The idiom comes from the note on painting style: "Wu takes the wind and comes out of the water."
The origin of idioms:
Wu Daozi, a painter in the Tang Dynasty, is good at painting Buddha statues, with round brushwork and clothes blown by the wind. Later generations praised his superb painting skills and elegant style. On the technique of writing, Wu Daozi created a kind of undulating and patchy "water shield strip", which strengthened the heavy feeling and three-dimensional sense of the description object, and highlighted the combination of human body curve and nature.
This style of painting also had a certain influence in the later West. The painted figures, sleeves and streamers have the tendency to dance with the wind, so they are called "Five Dynasties when the wind". Later generations are also famous for their superb painting skills and elegant style.
Extended data:
Painting Knowledge is a painting history book with six volumes. Tu Jing was written after Zhang Yanyuan's Tu Jing of Famous Paintings in Past Dynasties. Volume I: On Narrative, with a total of 16, imitating the works of the first three volumes. Among them, about modeling, about different systems of costumes, about charm, about three diseases of using pens, about Cao Wu's style, about three landscapes, about Huang Xu's style, and about the pros and cons of ancient and modern times are all monographs.
The second to fourth volumes are Ji Yi, which contains biographies of painters from the first year of Tang Huichang (84 1) to the seventh year of Xining in the Northern Song Dynasty (1074) with annotations. The fifth volume is a collection of stories, which records the stories of painters such as Tang, Wang Shu and so on. The sixth volume "Recent Situation" records the anecdotes of Song, Liao and Han painting circles. This book is widely quoted, informative and often has original opinions. It is a painting history composed of historical theory, biography and painting heritage.
Author Guo described the function of painting as "pointing out the wise and foolish, inventing and controlling chaos", so he said that "tasting painting theory before the exam is as famous as a person" and putting figure painting in the first place. For the creation of figure painting, the creative principle of "dignity, appearance and court clothes" is put forward, and then the "production mode" of figures with different identities is discussed in detail. Compared with Gu Kaizhi's Ode to Liu Sheng in Wei and Jin Dynasties, it has made great progress. However, due to the emphasis on * * * and the neglect of individuality, it is easy to lead to the road of typing and patterning.
