Wang Bin's "Introduction to China Ancient Literature" is one of the earliest master's majors in our school. From 1979, postgraduate students were officially recruited nationwide, and by July 2006, 69 qualified postgraduate students had been trained. Up to now, there are 55 graduate students. There are 7 tutors in China Ancient Literature Master Program, including 5 professors (including 1 distinguished professor) and 2 associate professors, and the person in charge is Professor Zhou Xiaolin. There are three research directions on this point, namely: literature of Wei, Jin, Southern and Northern Dynasties, literature of Tang, Song, Yuan and Ming Dynasties, traditional culture and ancient literature.
After long-term construction, China's master's degree program in ancient literature has accumulated rich experience in talent training. Tutors are dedicated and realistic, rigorous in their studies, decent in their work style, specialized in their studies and distinctive in their academic research. Their research results are at the leading level in the province or at home in the fields of ancient poetry, ancient lyrics and Bashu literature research. The cultivated graduate students have the characteristics of solid basic skills, wide knowledge and equal emphasis on teaching and scientific research. In the past twenty years, some of the graduate students trained in this point are famous experts in the field of ancient literature research in China, such as Professor Zhao Yishan, a Tianfu scholar, who has made outstanding achievements in the field of Sanqu research; Some have become doctoral supervisors in key universities, such as Professor Zhu Shangshu of Sichuan University and Professor Liu Zhenlun of Huazhong University of Science and Technology. Some have obtained doctoral degrees and embarked on jobs; Nearly ten graduates are still pursuing doctoral degrees in Nanjing University, Nankai University, Shandong University, Sichuan University and Shaanxi Normal University. China classical philology major 1979 began to recruit graduate students, which was the first master's major in China after the Cultural Revolution and the earliest master's major in our school. There are 18 graduate students in three research directions: Tang and Song literature, Han, Wei, Southern and Northern Dynasties literature and Bashu culture and literature. Relying on the Institute of Ancient Books Arrangement and the Institute of Bashu Culture of China West Normal University, this point has a strong faculty, rich achievements and distinctive features. Many graduates have become famous experts, scholars and academic leaders in China. The training goal is to train senior talents with all-round development in morality, intelligence and physique for China's socialist construction. Its specific requirements are:

The research topic of the dissertation is mainly chosen by the students themselves, and the tutor will give guidance to help them choose the topic when necessary. After selecting a topic, students must write a report that meets the requirements, and the topic can only be opened after discussion and approval by the expert group.
After the first draft of the paper is drafted, it must be sent to the tutor for review and revision in time, and the tutor must put forward specific written review opinions. After the paper is finalized, it must be carefully examined by the tutor before it can be submitted for review and defense.
The master's degree can only be awarded after the thesis defense is qualified, and the specific treatment measures cannot be discussed when the unqualified person submits the school degree.
