"Wind, rain, the sound of reading, sound in the ear;
Family affairs, state affairs and everything in the world care about everything. "
This is a couplet written by Gu Xiancheng, the leader of Lindong in Ming Dynasty. More than 360 years have passed. Nowadays, when people walk into the former site of Donglin College in Wuxi, Jiangsu Province, they can still find the remains of this couplet. . These eleven words fully reflected the political demands of Lindong party member at that time. They advocate not only caring about their families, but also about national and world affairs. At that time, people already knew that there was not only one China, but also many other countries. Therefore, they put the world events and national events together, which shows that this refers to world events, not just domestic ones.
Looking at the relationship between the superior and the subordinate, its significance is even more obvious. That is to say, on the one hand, we should concentrate on studying, on the other hand, we should care about politics, and the two should be closely combined. Moreover, the wind and rain on couplets can also be understood as a pun, which refers to both the wind and rain in nature and the wind and rain in politics. So the significance of this couplet is quite far-reaching. One-sided emphasis on reading, not on politics; Or it is extremely wrong to emphasize politics unilaterally without studying hard. People who talk about politics without reading are just empty politicians, not real politicians. There is no real politician who doesn't study hard. A politician who doesn't study at all is incredible. Similarly, people who only read books and don't ask politics are useless bookworms, and they are by no means really learned scholars. A truly learned scholar must not care about politics. A scholar who knows nothing about politics is incomplete anyway. In this regard, the so-called "caring about everything" actually includes the meaning of studying hard on all knowledge.
It is becoming more and more clear that we should study hard and care about politics. The ancients knew this truth and preached it. Are we not as good as the ancients, don't we understand? In any case, we should know more comprehensively, deeply and thoroughly than the ancients!
