First, set the title format?

1, select all the first-level titles in the article;

2. Click the title 1 on the start tab, as shown; ?

Imitate steps 1 and 2, and set the format of secondary and tertiary headers as header 2 and header 3.

Second, automatically generate the directory?

1. Position the cursor to the left of the character 1 in the first line of page 1 of the article (the directory should be in front of the article); ?

2. click reference-> directory-> insert directory, as shown in the figure?

3. Pop up the Directory dialog box, select the Directory tab, make relevant settings, and click OK to automatically generate the article directory.

4. For the directory automatically generated by the above method, hold down the Ctrl key, click the mouse on the directory, and enter the location of the title.

Third, update the catalogue.

After the directory is automatically generated, if the document is modified, the directory needs to be updated. The operation steps of updating the directory are as follows:

1. Place the cursor on the generated directory and click Reference->; Update the directory;

2. The Update Domain dialog box pops up, and you can choose to update the whole directory.
