Margins and columns in InDesign are centered settings. Margin is the distance from the center to the margin, which is actually equivalent to the auxiliary line. The difference is that when filling text automatically, the software will automatically identify the center and column.

You can set margins and columns when you create a new document, or you can modify them through layout-margins and columns after you create a new document.
