Punctuations Chinese uses punctuation marks in Chinese state and English uses punctuation marks in English state. Don't confuse them.

The quantity requirement is greater than 10 (inclusive).

Footnote marks are more obvious than the surrounding text, so superscript English letters or numbers are usually marked in thick font. In addition, oblique fonts can also be used to make superscript fonts tilt outward.

Make sure that the font will not become too small after the footnote mark is set to superscript. If so, you should use a larger font, or increase the default value of the software combination with superscript.

If the fonts you use contain appropriate superscript numbers, please use them. Compare "2" with superscript and press ALT+0178 ("2" versus "?" You will find that the color of normal superscript numbers is as black as the rest of the text, but the color of superscript numbers is lighter.

Finally, make sure that the alignment of the columns is complete. Take the right-aligned column as an example. Numbers with footnotes should not be pushed to the left to make room for markers. The latter should be "floating", that is, on the right side of the number, but outside the column.

Footnote mark under the table body: Some periodical publishers change the footnote mark under the table body to ordinary (non-superscript), that is, the footnote mark used in the table is "?" Change it to "2". The latter is called "coaxial" font. It is suggested that you recognize and follow the consistent practice of target journals.

Footnote text begins immediately after the footnote mark, with a short distance between them. If you keep the superscript font, the first letter of the text may be capitalized, which may hide the mark. Similarly, please refer to the styles used in the target journals.

Punctuation at the end: If the body of the footnote is a complete sentence or contains several single sentences, please use a full stop appropriately. If the text is a word, a short sentence or a sentence fragment, you don't need to use the ending punctuation.

A line of words contains multiple footnotes: short footnotes are usually set as a text block. In other words, multiple footnotes are arranged continuously, leaving only a space in the middle. The width of a footnote text block is similar to the width of a row or table that constitutes ordinary text. Even if the target journal arranges the pages into two columns (or more), footnotes should not follow the same layout. I suggest that you separate each footnote into one line and let the publishing house decide the final layout.
