Jiangxi Vocational College of Applied Technology, formerly known as Jiangxi Institute of Geology, was founded in 1958. After 1965 was closed, 1973 resumed Jiangxi Geological School. 1978 was placed under the management of the State Administration of Geology (predecessor of the Ministry of Geology and Mineral Resources) and renamed Ganzhou Geological School. It is one of the five technical secondary schools directly under the Ministry of Geology and Mineral Resources. 1994 was renamed as southern technical school, and was awarded as a national key technical secondary school twice. After March 2000, the school was placed under the management of Jiangxi Province. In 2002, with the approval of the Ministry of Education, the school was upgraded to Jiangxi Vocational College of Applied Technology, which is a college-level college.
The college is located in Ganzhou, a famous historical and cultural city in China. The college has a beautiful environment and orderly management, and has been rated as a provincial civilized unit, a civilized campus, an excellent school for teaching management in the province, and an advanced unit for landscaping and planting health. The leaders of the Ministry of Geology and Mineral Resources and the Ministry of Land and Resources have visited the school many times to guide the work. In April, Premier Wen Jiabao inspected the school as the Vice Minister of Geology and Mineral Resources, and fully affirmed the school's work.
The college currently covers an area of 932 mu, with a building area of 265,438+400,000 square meters, total fixed assets of 654,38+986,000 yuan, and complete teaching and living facilities. There are 249 faculty members, including full-time teachers 159, including 98 senior titles, 6 doctors 1 person and 6 masters. At present, there are more than 4,500 students from 27 provinces, municipalities and autonomous regions. The college implements multi-level and multi-form education, and cooperates with well-known universities such as Xiamen University and Zhejiang University to hold undergraduate education. It is the Master's College of Economics and Management Engineering of Nanchang University. The college attaches importance to the cultivation of students' comprehensive quality and practical skills, and the teaching quality is high. The one-time employment rate of graduates is over 90%, which is widely welcomed by the society.
I. Faculty and Specialty Settings
At present, the college has three departments of geology and related majors, namely, the Department of Land and Resources Engineering, the Department of Civil Engineering and the Department of Applied Chemistry, and also has a geoscience exhibition hall. Second, laboratory construction and foreign scientific and technological services
At present, there are 15 laboratories in the Department of Land and Resources Engineering, the Department of Civil Engineering and the Department of Applied Chemistry of our college. Among them, the geoscience exhibition hall is rich in collections and complete in varieties, which is the first-class in Jiangxi Province and the base of geoscience popular science education in Jiangxi Province. The above laboratories not only serve teaching, but also undertake scientific and technological appraisal and analysis services. At present, the testing institute of Jiangxi Vocational College of Applied Technology, which is mainly established by various laboratories, has once again passed the certification and re-examination of the expert review group of Jiangxi Provincial Bureau of Metrology, and is one of the few institutions in Jiangxi Province that has obtained the provincial quality standardization measurement certification certificate.
The business scope of our institute is divided into five aspects, namely, engineering survey, building materials and civil testing, geological and mineral evaluation and testing, survey engineering, industrial analysis and environmental monitoring. Among them, the direction of engineering investigation is: pile foundation detection of construction projects, site selection of large and medium-sized construction sites, regional stability evaluation, depth detection of underground pipelines, caves and rocks, and cultural relics detection; Evaluation and treatment of geological disasters, investigation and evaluation of groundwater resources, quality inspection of tunnels, bridges and roads. The work direction of building materials and geotechnical test is: indoor geotechnical test, geotechnical in-situ test, geotechnical in-situ static load test, building materials mechanical test and beam-column structure test. The detection direction of geology and mineral resources is: gem identification, mineral products identification, geological survey and engineering geological evaluation, paleontology identification, deposit evaluation and reserve evaluation, and the research direction of surveying engineering is topographic survey, engineering survey, control survey, real estate and cadastral survey and road survey. The direction of industrial analysis is: water quality and water sample analysis; Environmental quality analysis; Composition analysis of mineral products; Ambient air quality detection.
Third, team building.
Jiangxi Vocational College of Applied Technology has 60 teachers, who are involved in geology, surveying, hydrogeology, engineering geology and basic engineering. Among them, there are 40 associate professors, 20 lecturers and 5 distinguished professor. Among the teachers, there are doctors 1 person, 2 masters and 50 undergraduates. Among the teachers, 2 enjoy the special government allowance of the State Council, and 3 are rated as national and provincial excellent teachers.
Teachers of the college actively undertake various scientific research projects of the country, province and city, including the 2 1 century vocational education curriculum reform teaching material construction planning research and development project of the Ministry of Education, the study on the overall teaching reform scheme of the land and resources survey major in secondary vocational schools, the geological survey and description of 50,000 Yinkeng, Huangshi, Ningdu, Changsheng and Qingtang areas, and the important graptolite fauna of the Middle and Upper Ordovician in Chongyi-Yongxin area of Jiangxi Province, etc. Investigation on the present situation of land use at the county level in Guangdong, Huichang, Ningdu and Shicheng counties in the middle and early stage of Yushan ancient city, the overall land use planning of Ruijin and Shicheng counties, and the typical Pacific graptolite fauna in Chongyi, Jiangxi Province in the early stage of Shitaoning period in Guangdong.
Fourth, the advantages and characteristics of running a school
Jiangxi Vocational College of Applied Technology has a history of more than 40 years. Most of its teachers come from the front line of production. The 40-year school-running practice has proved that the advantage of our college is to pay attention to the intensive training of practical skills and cultivate applied talents facing the grassroots and the front line of production.
Since 1990, the college has carried out rock climbing, a sport with the characteristics of geological field work. Now this sport has become the most distinctive sport in the college. At present, the college is the national rock climbing training center and one of the top ten extreme clubs in China. Over the years, our college has trained many excellent rock climbers for the country, and they have won many honors for the country and the college in rock climbing competitions at home and abroad. Teacher Ding of our college is now the head coach of the national rock climbing team. At the same time, taking rock climbing as the breakthrough point, the college has made excellent achievements in the research and practice of students' potential development, become an important position of quality education in the college, and won the key project of educational reform in Jiangxi Province.
One of the characteristics of the college in geoscience research is that it has made many achievements in paleontological graptolite research. Xiao, Chen Hongye and other teachers have published more than 40 research papers and 3 monographs on graptolite, established and published 2 new genera, 160 new species and 23 new subspecies. The Ordovician graptolite fauna in southern Jiangxi and northeastern Jiangxi are systematically studied, especially the establishment of two new genera and the study of graptolite evolution classification are of great significance, and southwest Jiangxi is established as the origin center of Pacific graptolite fauna.
