Recently, the issue number of a foreign periodical "Communication and Education Review" edited by me was finally approved, so I began to solicit contributions extensively.

My original intention is to run this journal well, provide a platform for publishing papers, and provide better and faster services for publishing papers.

However, after I sent out the essay notice, I found that the teachers had all kinds of questions and questions.

Many questions were unexpected to me, such as this one: "Do you think that a Chinese paper is translated into an English paper and then submitted to an English journal?"

There are many people who ask this question, and many people have doubts or inner uneasiness.

Because many academic misconduct that broke out in recent years made everyone nervous.

I have talked about this problem in the book Introduction to Paper Writing and Publication before.

But after the establishment of academic journals, I have a new view and explanation on this issue.

Originally, I thought from the author's point of view, but now I think as an editor of a publishing house.

So I'd like to give you some advice from the perspective of periodical society.

Why do you say that?

If you have read many papers, you will know that there is a kind of paper called compilation. I have read many compiled papers, all of which are excellent.

It is normal to compile foreign papers and publish them in domestic Chinese academic journals. Many people have not been authorized by the authors of the papers or by foreign periodical agencies.

You can also think so. If you are a writer, you certainly want your novels to be translated into dozens of languages and spread all over the world, right?

Good ideas, good works and good academic achievements should be like this.

This is the essential face of the world. We invented academic journals to better disseminate academic content and reflect the value of doing academic content.

So I think there is no problem in translating Chinese into English or English into Chinese, as long as the academic content is spread out.

So, when many teachers come to ask me. I said yes.

However, they are still worried that there will be problems in the future.

I think the real question is whether you use the same thing to get more material benefits that don't belong to you, and at the same time harm the interests of others.

For example, if you apply for different scientific research projects with the same application form, they all won the bid, and then a paper is hung with several project numbers, which makes others lose the opportunity to apply for projects.

For example, you published a top journal at home and abroad with a paper, which wasted the opportunity for others to publish high-level papers.

For example, if you use the same achievement to evaluate different awards, they are all awards, depriving others of the opportunity to win.

I don't think there will be any problem as long as we don't harm others and benefit ourselves.

A lot of academic misconduct was exposed because you seized too many resources in the real society, which led to a lot of injustice and dissatisfaction and attracted criticism from others.

Think about it, don't you?

The number of C periodicals in every subject field in China will not exceed 10, especially those approved by the school. Thousands of people all over the country are staring at those ten books. This is less likely than winning the lottery.

But how many good foreign periodicals are there?

There are more than 400 SSCI social science journals in Willie's family alone. There is a magazine called China and World Economic Research.

When I chatted with the person in charge of wiley's China district, I found that their editors were particularly willing to communicate with China authors and hoped that China authors would contribute, but domestic authors, including me, knew too little about foreign periodicals.

Most of us can't even do the first step, that is, send an English paper first.

And many people have never thought about trying foreign periodicals.

Many people want to, but they find it too difficult.

In fact, nothing is difficult in the world.

The vast world abroad is promising.

If you can't do it in domestic core journals, try foreign ones.

I also hope to walk with you on this more challenging road.

If your level is not up to ssci, you can try ordinary publications first. Anyway, an article is always a new beginning, which will greatly enhance your confidence.

After you publish your English paper, revise your Chinese paper. Maybe you will have more new materials to join. This can stimulate your academic creative potential more.

Chinese and English have very different expressions.

The writing of Chinese and English papers is also different.

I had a paper on awards before, and I always wanted to revise it into an English paper before publishing it. I tried to find some students to translate, and found that there is no such reward mode abroad, and I don't know what kind of expression to use to explain reward. Therefore, only in the analysis of this concept, it will take a lot of pen and ink, not a few words to make it clear. Because the translation of this paper is too difficult, I have put it on hold ever since. But I believe that if you translate and write in a way that foreign countries can understand, it will be a good paper.

There is also a paper on barrage mode, which is the same, but it is not available abroad, or it is not quite the same. So I failed to translate or modify it to my satisfaction. Has also been shelved.

These two examples are to tell you that even if you publish a Chinese paper and translate it into English, you will encounter many problems and undergo many revisions. In the end, a lot of content is definitely different.

This is like the paper iteration method that I have been emphasizing in class before.

The topic selection of the paper needs iterative development. This is not self-plagiarism, but further research.

Therefore, as long as you revise it with your heart and have supplementary materials and change it into an English paper, you can feel at ease and boldly contribute to English journals again.

Moreover, English periodicals can't use Chinese duplicate checking system, which is two sets of discourse systems. Moreover, they may not even know what HowNet is.

As long as it is not within the sphere of influence of English periodicals, there is no problem.
