The Three Gorges Botanical Garden is a public welfare institution, and its main function is to carry out conservation research around the collection, migration, preservation, display, development and utilization of rare and endangered endemic plants and biodiversity in the Three Gorges area. At the same time, it undertakes the rescue and preservation of important wildlife germplasm resources, the transformation and popularization of forestry technology research and scientific research achievements in the whole city, the experimental demonstration of forest seed cultivation, the management and protection of state-owned forest resources in the park, and provides social public welfare services with professional technology. The funds mainly come from financial allocation. There are 69 employees, 38 of whom are on the job, including provincial management experts 1 person. There are 9 senior titles, 8 intermediate titles, and workers and technicians 16.
Since its establishment, the Three Gorges Botanical Garden has successively undertaken 5 1 provincial and municipal scientific research projects, won 23 provincial, provincial and municipal scientific and technological progress awards and promotion awards, published 85 papers, co-authored 1 article, and won 38 provincial and municipal outstanding scientific and technological papers and natural science academic papers awards. Yichang Forestry Institute was awarded the title of "Top Ten Forestry Science and Technology Units", "Top Ten Forestry Scientific Research Extension Units" and "Advanced Collective" of the whole province's forestry system for three consecutive years, and was awarded the honorary title of "Yichang Model Worker" by Yichang Municipal People's Government for many years.
