However, with the increase of enrollment ratio in adult colleges and universities, insufficient investment in education, low requirements for students' level and other factors, the writing level of graduation thesis of adult education students is worrying. How to improve the quality of graduation thesis writing for English majors in adult education institutions has become a top priority. In order to solve this problem, the author takes English majors in Adult Education College of Changzhou Institute of Technology as the research object, analyzes the common problems in graduation thesis, probes into the causes of these problems, and tries to put forward some countermeasures to improve the quality of thesis.

First, the main problems in the process of thesis writing

1. Students don't attach importance to graduation thesis.

Due to the on-the-job characteristics, students' attitude towards graduation thesis writing has been influenced to some extent. The author finds that students have insufficient understanding of undergraduate graduation thesis and their subjective attitude is not serious. In the process of thesis writing, the time invested is extremely limited, and the energy spent is even less. In the eyes of some students, the results of the thesis will not affect graduation, and under the control of this utilitarian heart, there will be a coping mentality; In addition, some students think that they are adults, and the instructors will not be too strict. The teacher will certainly let them pass, as long as they handle it properly, which will lead to negative emotions in their writing process and more problems in their graduation thesis.

2. Students blindly choose topics.

The topic selection lacks scientific and practical guiding significance. When choosing a topic, students often decide the topic according to their temporary interests. Moreover, when choosing a topic, they did not fully understand the topic and did not accumulate certain data. They only judge whether they are interested in the topic superficially. Therefore, they blindly choose the topic, which leads to the discovery that they can't write any more in the middle of the paper. They want to change the topic, or they can only write it down reluctantly. There are also some students who are particularly passive when choosing topics, have no topics of their own interest, hesitate when choosing topics, and finally even directly ask the instructor to give him a proposition.

2, the school curriculum.

At present, there are some problems in the curriculum of adult education in our school, which restrict the development of students' learning ability to some extent. Mainly manifested in: relatively more specialized courses, less comprehensive practice courses; Curriculum setting is arbitrary, and the phenomenon of "setting courses for individuals" is common. As a result, students' basic theoretical knowledge is not generous enough, their understanding of basic concepts is very superficial, and they lack problem awareness in the process of writing papers, so they will not find problems. In addition, a lot of knowledge learned by students is more meaningful and valuable through practice, while more theoretical courses and less practical courses will affect students' scientific research and practical ability. The knowledge learned in the classroom only stays in textbooks, and cannot be transformed into their own knowledge through corresponding scientific research and practice, which hinders students from further carrying out innovative activities. At the same time, most adult education in China lacks thesis writing courses, so students rarely participate in scientific research and have no experience in writing scientific research papers. Entering the writing stage also begins with imitating paper writing. Due to the lack of writing methods and skills, it is inevitable that there will be such problems when writing papers.

Third, the solution

In order to strengthen the teaching management of graduation thesis writing for students of this major, improve the quality of graduation thesis and achieve the training goal, the author puts forward the following suggestions in view of the problems existing in the graduation thesis writing process of this major:

1. Strengthen students' understanding of the importance of thesis writing.

Schools and instructors should emphasize the importance of graduation thesis to students, require students to put graduation thesis writing in an important position, and realize that graduation thesis writing is an important step to complete undergraduate teaching content, a main means to comprehensively test students' comprehensive quality and practical ability, an important basis for students' graduation qualification certification, and strengthen students' internal demand for writing graduation thesis.
