Abstract: Nowadays, retail supermarket has become an indispensable part of our life. As an independent small supermarket, XX supermarket must strengthen its own management if it wants to survive in many supermarkets. At the same time, we must respond to the rapidly changing market in time, reduce the inventory cost and improve the competitiveness of enterprises through effective inventory management.

This paper is divided into five parts except introduction and conclusion. The first part systematically expounds the related concepts and theories of inventory management, and expounds the main functions of inventory in retail industry and its importance in inventory management. The second part analyzes the operating status and inventory management level of supermarkets in Jiang Yan, and finds that there are some practical unstable problems in the process of supermarket management, such as backward inventory management methods and unstable inventory. The third part is the general idea of improving inventory management. What needs to be achieved after improvement.

Improve and put forward the specific requirements and main contents of improvement according to the purpose, so as to provide the basis for the design and implementation of the scheme. The fourth part is based on the actual instability problem, put forward their own improvement programs. Finally, the fifth part is the concrete implementation of these schemes in supermarket inventory management.
