Tao Te Ching says that goodness is like water, water is the goodness of all things, and water is the evil of all things, so it is the goodness of Tao. Mr. Yangming said in his family training: Don't complain about others, be independent. Being a servant is ambitious. Being able to accommodate people is a great tool. Anyone with high moral character is open-minded.
First filial piety
China's traditional culture attaches great importance to family culture, and filial piety is the first. The so-called filial piety is filial piety to parents. Confucius said, "Today's filial piety means that it can be raised. As for dogs and horses, both can be kept; Disrespect, why not? " Filial piety is not only support, but also respect. The so-called friendship is brotherhood. Mr. Yangming also put filial piety first when he was studying. In the pursuit of knowledge, he put morality first and filial piety of all virtues first.
Learn humility
There is no end to learning and there is no end to the pursuit of learning, so we should learn with a humble attitude. And some people read some sage books by themselves, have some fame and achievements, and are often arrogant and ignorant. Mr. Yangming once talked with several old Confucian scholars about their conscience, and found them pedantic. He studied Zhu Cheng Neo-Confucianism all his life, ignoring all other theories, and his obsession has formed in his heart, which ultimately hindered their learning and growth, and he can only be pedantic all his life and become a tragedy of the times.
Don't complain, be independent.
The ancients said that blaming others should forgive others' mistakes as if they had never happened, so as to be calm, ask yourself, find out your own mistakes where there seems to be no mistakes, and improve your morality. Therefore, people with high moral character always ask a lot of themselves, but not so much of others. Zeng Guofan asked his men to be like saints when he started running the army. He found that there were no fish when the water was clear, and later changed his mind and only asked himself to be like a saint.
Can serve people and tolerate people.
It is extremely difficult to be humble and tolerant of the injustice of others, which is also the way to cultivate personal morality. Confucius told us that we should not be ashamed to ask questions. When we have a threesome, we must learn from each other. Han Yu said: We have good Taoism and good skills. Teachers don't have to be superior to disciples, and disciples don't have to be inferior to teachers. Therefore, a gentleman can be flexible and tolerant of others, so as to accommodate all rivers.
Mr. Yangming has made brilliant achievements in his life, and his family precepts are his methodology, among which self-cultivation is the most important. Cultivation is not only a question of university education, but also a question of noble character. Only by showing filial piety, learning humility, not complaining about others, and being tolerant and generous can we show our true heroic qualities.
