Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, scientific and technological talents, regional differences, talent advantages

Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region is located in the north of the motherland, with few scholars, inconvenient transportation and complex natural conditions and resources. There are twelve municipal administrative units in this land, including four cities and eight leagues, and the capital Hohhot [1].

1 Regional distribution difference of scientific and technological talents in Inner Mongolia

1. 1 Regional distribution difference of scientific and technological talents in Inner Mongolia

1. 1. 1 talent quantity difference

Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region is rich in natural resources, but lacks corresponding human resources. Therefore, the problem of human resources needs to be solved urgently [2]. The solution is to strengthen the development and training of talents in the region while introducing talents.

With the progress of society and the development of the times, translation activities are becoming more and more frequent, and the division of labor in the field of translation is becoming more and more detailed because of different styles. Sci-tech style is a speech style that adapts to the content, scope and communication needs of science and technology. It is accurate, concise, objective and rigorous. Its function is to accurately describe the thinking phenomena of nature, society and human beings and strictly demonstrate their inherent laws, so as to serve the development and dissemination of natural science and social science, and then serve the social progress and productivity development. This paper will discuss the characteristics and translation methods of scientific and technological style.

First, the characteristics of scientific and technological style

(1) accuracy

The first essential feature of scientific and technological style is accuracy. Scientific articles describe objective facts or truths, so any misunderstanding must be avoided as much as possible. The language of science and technology contains a large number of basic scientific words and technical terms. In today's world, science and technology are mainly communicated internationally through English. English scientific and technological words and terms are determined, reviewed and published by ISO and related international societies internationally, which endows these scientific and technological words and terms with internationality. English and Chinese scientific and technological articles can only be accurately expressed by consulting professional technical dictionaries, literature materials or finding Chinese terms that are strictly corresponding to these English terms based on certain field agreements.

In the style of EST, there are many words with multiple meanings. These words seem simple, but their meanings are different from those in everyday English, or different according to the disciplines and majors used. The translation of these words should be based on their context. For example, "carrier" means "carrier" in physics and "carrier" in medicine.

(2) Simplicity

As a style of information exchange, scientific and technological articles should convey facts and truth in the shortest words and avoid using empty and flashy words, so as to convey information accurately and efficiently. Since transmitting information is the primary task of scientific and technological articles, the amount of information contained in a scientific and technological article has become an important criterion for measuring scientific and technological articles, that is, scientific and technological articles must transmit as much information as possible with as few words as possible. In EST, some expressions can play a concise role. For example:

Example 1: s 1: If the heat is dissipated through the wall of the combustion chamber, the efficiency of the boiler will be lost.

S2: The decrease of boiler efficiency is caused by the heat dissipation of the combustion chamber wall.

In the above example, the second sentence uses nominalization structure to transform the first sentence (complex sentence) into a simple sentence, which simplifies the sentence structure. Through the abstract noun "dissipation" and its prepositional phrase, the expression has obviously achieved the effect of simplicity, dignity and conciseness. The use of abstract nouns also reflects the logicality and conceptualization of scientific and technological style with the help of abstract thinking.

(3) Objectivity

Scientific articles mainly describe objective facts, natural laws and theoretical romanticism. The purpose of scientific and technological articles is to convey information objectively, so objectivity is an important feature of scientific and technological style. According to the statistics of foreign linguists, at least 1/3 verbs in EST use the passive voice, because the subjects described in EST are often objective things and do not involve the relevant people. The use of passive voice can highlight the object of action and the main idea to be demonstrated and explained.

Example 2: These symptoms are caused by "transient ischemic attack (TIA)" or "small stroke".

Example 3: All these factors can be expressed by complex mathematical equations, and the computer can solve these equations, so as to get the best equipment and the lowest cost.

The above two examples put "symptoms" and "factors" in the prominent position of the subject, so that readers can immediately notice that the object of the sentence is the reason of these "symptoms" and the expression method of these "factors".

(4) rigidity

Another important feature of scientific and technological articles is rigor, which can be reflected from the coherence and logic of the articles. Scientific and technological article making

Use a variety of cohesive devices to achieve overall coherence. The rigorous logic of scientific and technological articles is mainly reflected in strict reasoning, judgment and close internal relations between language components. In translation, the translator must have a strong sense of cohesion and coherence, and properly handle the logical relationship between sentences or sentence groups. Only in this way can high-quality translation be produced.

Second, English-Chinese functional translation from the perspective of stylistic features of science and technology

Lexical level

1, meaning choice

Example 4: (1) Energy will operate some changes at this temperature. (in physics)

Such a temperature will cause some energy changes.

Computers can only operate according to instructions. (Computer Science)

The computer can only run according to the instructions.

(3) The battery can be used to operate the car. (Automotive Engineering)

Electromagnetic energy storage can be used to start a car.

The doctor decided to operate on him at once. (medicine)

The doctor decided to operate on him at once.

From the above sentence, we can see that the word "operation" has different meanings in different sentences. This is because it is used in different disciplines and with different vocabulary, that is, the context is different. In the sentence 1, because other parts of the sentence imply that this is a physical concept, it is more appropriate to translate "operation" into "reason" with "change". The second sentence "operate" is used in the computer field, and is translated into "run" by "instruction". In the third and fourth sentences, "operation" is used in vehicle engineering and medical field respectively, and translated as "start" and "operation". For the translation of this polysemous word, we must make an accurate choice of meaning according to the context.

2. Meaning extension

Example 5: There are stops on both sides of the adjusting screw.

There are no locating blocks at both ends of the adjusting screw.

Analysis: the original meaning of "stop" is "stop, stop". Considering the professional context, in this sentence, "stop" refers to a mechanical part, which can prevent the relative movement between two parts. In this paper, it is translated into "positioning block" by extended translation method.

Logical level

1, add logical connector

There is a difference between science and technology. Science is the way to answer theoretical questions; Technology is a way to solve practical problems. Science is related to discovering the facts and relationships between observable phenomena in nature, and to establishing theories for organizing these facts and relationships; Technology is related to tools, technologies and procedures for scientific discovery. Another difference between science and technology is related to their respective processes.

There is a difference between science and technology. First of all, science is … and technology is … Second, science is … and technology is … Finally, …

Analysis: The original text is a typical deductive paragraph, and the sentence 1 is a topic sentence, pointing out that "science and technology are different". Then it explains this difference from three aspects. This paragraph is a descriptive rhetoric, and the rhetorical device used is "comparison and contrast". The repetition of the three core words "science", "technology" and "difference" in the original text plays an important role in the coherence of the article. Moreover, the second sentence, the third sentence and the fourth sentence in the original text all have implicit logical relations, that is, coordinate relations. Therefore, in the process of translation, logical connectives "first", "second" and "last" are added in the expansion part, which makes the implied logical relationship manifest. Such translation can make the level of the article clear.

Step 2 rearrange the information

Ex. 7: We think it is always possible to obtain purer precision by re-decomposing precision, and we have tried our best to clean it from soluble damage and re-precision.

We think that the soluble impurities in the sediment should be washed away as much as possible first, then the sediment should be dissolved, and then the sediment should be precipitated after dissolution. In this way, relatively pure precipitates can usually be obtained.

Analysis: There are three participle phrases after "by" in this paragraph. Pay attention to the different tenses of these participles. The second participle phrase "washed washed" is the perfect tense, suggesting that this action takes place before the other two actions. In the process of translation, we should pay attention to the logical order, change the original sentence order and rearrange these three actions in chronological order.

Three. Concluding remarks

Based on the above theoretical deduction and case analysis, we can draw a conclusion that applying stylistic analysis to scientific translation can improve the quality of scientific translation. The translation produced by this method not only conforms to the linguistic features of scientific and technological style and the customary expressions at all levels of the target language, but also helps to achieve accurate, concise, clear and rigorous stylistic effects in the translation of scientific and technological articles. The most important thing is that its appropriate style and language form can fully realize the information function of the translation.
