Brief introduction of Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of the People's Republic of China
(1) To be responsible for formulating policies and plans for overseas Chinese affairs, drafting relevant draft regulations and supervising their implementation. (2) To investigate and study overseas Chinese affairs and overseas Chinese work at home and abroad, provide overseas Chinese information to the CPC Central Committee and the State Council, organize investigations and studies on overseas Chinese policies, theories and major issues concerning overseas Chinese work, and be responsible for informing overseas Chinese affairs departments about overseas Chinese work. (3) Assisting Premier the State Council in handling overseas Chinese affairs, coordinating overseas Chinese affairs of relevant departments and social organizations, guiding overseas Chinese affairs of relevant local departments, and cooperating with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in guiding overseas Chinese affairs of Chinese embassies and consulates abroad. (4) to guide the work of returned overseas Chinese and their relatives, organize and coordinate the work of safeguarding the legitimate rights and interests of returned overseas Chinese and their relatives according to law, cooperate with relevant departments to study and deal with overseas Chinese emergencies, participate in the supervision of major overseas Chinese donations, and assist relevant departments in making personnel arrangements for representatives of returned overseas Chinese and their relatives. (5) To be responsible for guiding and developing the friendship and service for overseas Chinese and their associations, developing the friendship between overseas Chinese in Hong Kong and Macao Special Administrative Regions, carrying out overseas Chinese affairs in Taiwan with relevant departments, and undertaking relevant examination and approval matters. (six) to guide and promote economic and scientific cooperation and exchanges involving overseas Chinese, and coordinate the work of economic complaints involving overseas Chinese. (seven) to guide and promote overseas Chinese propaganda, cultural exchanges and Chinese education. (eight) to undertake other tasks assigned by the State Council.
