A sad song

Abstract: The spirit of fox spirit has always had a unique position in China's literary works, which is favored by writers. In every different period, a number of excellent works will emerge. The writer's portrayal of the fox image unconsciously formed the unique culture of China-the fox culture.

Although these three works in different periods have different literary definitions, they all involve people and goblins, and fox spirits also appear in the works. I chose the following three images: vicious and evil da ji, simple and kind Feng Sanniang, and undisputed Xiao Bai. Although their personalities and circumstances are different, they are all more or less tragic in the end.

Romance of the Gods, Strange Tales from a Lonely Studio and Killing Immortals are three works in different periods. Although their literary definitions are different, they all involve people and spirits. I have selected three characters from them: da ji, a cruel and evil woman, Feng Sanniang, a pure and innocent woman, and Xiao Bai, a peaceful woman. Although they were endowed with different personalities and environments, they all had a tragic ending more or less.

To analyze the causes of the tragedy, I will analyze it from the following aspects: the setting environment of the text, the writer's thoughts and the influence of the writer's social environment, China's traditional thoughts and Taoist thoughts.
