This girl is only twelve years old. She was born in Zhuangzi, where she worked as a farmer. After she got married, she moved from house to house. Her husband is not yet three years old, but she is not worried about this marriage-she doesn't want to and doesn't know how to worry. She grew up hugging her husband and doing housework like a castor tree. The growth of rustling in the novel is a primitive and natural growth. She never studied and never consciously resisted the marriage system and etiquette system in which she lived, but the growing natural humanity inevitably collided with the system.

Shen Congwen wrote: "After several frosts and snows and several clear skies in Grain Rain, the whole family said that Mix was an adult. God bless you, drink cold water and eat rough rice. You are disease-free in all seasons, but you are developing so fast. " So the contradiction in the marriage between a boy and a girl is presented in secret-in this novel, the contradiction is placed behind the plot and details, and the author never describes the conflict positively, but the relationship between Mix and Hua Gou has undergone subtle changes: "She sometimes feels afraid and won't let her husband go away; Sometimes it is better to send her husband away, like having a dog around. " A faint touch of this sentence reveals the girl's heart, and there is a faint dispute between fear and happiness.

Because she has no education, Mix can't resist her marriage, and because she has no education, she has no strong sense of chastity. -Shen Congwen's rustling is almost entirely natural. He listens to the call of natural humanity. So, in the ballad of Flower Dog, she became a woman.

Mix, who became a woman, did not regret losing her virginity. This abstract moral concept didn't scare her, but when she had a child, the specific physical changes scared her. In the confrontation between human nature and system, Shen Congwen wrote the victory of human nature. For marriage, Mix is faced with natural humanity, courtesy and law, as well as the simple nature of farmers. This kind of confrontation is unconscious, even self-restraint. This power seems weak and accidental, but it is hidden in these "agricultural Zhuangzi". In these "agricultural Zhuangzi", what Shen Congwen is quietly building is the "Greek Temple of Human Nature" with eternal love and beauty in his heart.

However, even if Shen Congwen played down the contradiction as much as possible and made progress in the weakening of the conflict, he still had to write down the cruel reality and system. -rustling fate has such a big chance, she seems lucky, but her life can only be at the mercy of external forces, and she has never had independent power over her own destiny. Ignorance and numbness lurk in her happiness. The power of human nature is natural, but it is ignorant, so another group of people who are completely different from Xiao Xiao in the novel, "female students", have introduced the power of self-reflection and resistance.

In the rustling, the female students' narrative is completely fictional. They are like the background of the novel, constantly "deviating" from Zhuangzi. Farmers have all kinds of absurd rumors about them. Their feelings for female students are complex and interesting, mixed with admiration and contempt. For this group of people they don't know, they keep a distance and are curious about life. For Xiao Xiao, female student is just a vague concept, but when she wants to escape, she will take the "female student road", although she can't really embark on such a journey.

The significance of "female student" is not only to give the novel a background of the times, but also to imply a kind of self-reflection and resistance to the system, which seems to be in a different system from the power of human nature in the foreground of the novel, but is it possible to combine them? While nature is developing naturally, can education liberate people from ignorance? In this way, people can have greater resistance to unreasonable systems. The novel is not such a clear argument, and Shen Congwen can't arrange the structure under the guidance of ideas, but the novelist's perceptual intuition may be connected with the rational conclusion. Interestingly, the original novel of 1929 ends like this:

"On this day, Mix held the newborn Mao Mao, but looked at the excitement in front of the house, just like holding her husband ten years ago."

1957 When changing the sentence, Shen Congwen added this sentence about female students:

"Mao Mao cried, singing generally coaxed him:

Look, Mao Mao, here comes the sedan chair. Look, the bride is wearing a flowered skirt. How respectable she is! Stop it, don't be unreasonable! I will be angry if I don't make sense! Look, here comes the schoolgirl! When we grow up tomorrow, we will also marry a female student's wife! "

In a cycle, new variables are also brewing and budding.

As a novel, rustling is different. Its focus is not on conflicts, contradictions and the ensuing climax. It describes human nature, with a tolerant attitude, calm brushwork and soothing plot, but rich in subtle details-this reflects an artist's feelings, which can break through some inherent ideological barriers and bring people new enlightenment. In Sasha Vujacic, Zhuangzi, who is farming, can smell the fragrance of forage and hear the singing of folk songs. The life of farmers is hard and narrow, but they have simple vitality. Shen Congwen wrote an idyll with "rustling". Although there are pains and doubts in the tune, it is clear and beautiful on the whole, echoing in the natural land of Xiangxi.
