On the Social Status of Women in Tang Dynasty
This paper analyzes the social status of women in the Tang Dynasty from the perspective of sociology, so as to provide reference for the development of today's society and the formation of a healthy marriage concept. The full text is divided into three parts: The first part discusses the status of women before the Tang Dynasty. The advanced stage of primitive society is divided into matriarchal clan commune and paternal clan commune, in which women are in a dominant position in society. When they entered the patriarchal clan commune, men began to occupy a dominant position in economic and social life, and the status of women gradually declined. Xia, Shang and Zhou basically established the dominant position of paternal parents. After Emperor Wu ascended the throne, he accepted Dong Zhongshu's suggestion of "ousting a hundred schools of thought and respecting Confucianism alone". While establishing Confucianism as the orthodox thought of feudal rule, he also formed the feudal ethical concept of "men are superior to women". The second part discusses the improvement of women's status in China feudal society in the Tang Dynasty. Starting with the outstanding female groups in the Tang Dynasty, this paper discusses the importance attached by the Tang Dynasty to women's literary accomplishment. At that time, from court concubines to folk women, they were able to learn to write poems, leaving a lot of excellent works and making positive contributions to the literature of the Tang Dynasty. In feudal times, sports were generally regarded as men's special activities, but the Tang Dynasty was an exception. Women can show their faces in outdoor activities, which shows the open social atmosphere in the Tang Dynasty. Secondly, it discusses the status of women in the Tang Dynasty from the perspective of marriage, that is, it discusses the higher social status of women in marriage from the perspective of law and real life. Finally, from the appearance of Empress Wu Zetian, taking this as an example, it is discussed that she is the symbol of the peak of women's status in the Tang Dynasty. Explain the improvement of women's status in Tang Dynasty. The third part discusses the social reasons for the improvement of women's status in Tang Dynasty. This paper discusses that the society in the Tang Dynasty provided a more relaxed environment for the improvement of women's status from six aspects: the "open" feudal society, the "Hu Hua" of the royal family in Li Tang, the decline of Confucianism, the relatively enlightened Tang law for women, the "queen" thought in Buddhist scriptures, and the repeated destruction of the patriarchal clan system in which the eldest son invaded the throne. This paper draws a conclusion. Studying the social status of women in the Tang Dynasty can help us understand the evolution of the whole Tang Dynasty more deeply, and can also provide reference for our social development and the formation of a healthy marriage concept.
