Is it difficult to retrieve sci or ei?
If we have to compare, SCI is more difficult.

So what are SCI and EI retrieval?

1 The significance of papers entering international retrieval systems such as SCI and Ei.

1) increase the intensity, speed and breadth of information dissemination of papers, attract readers, broaden readers at home and abroad, and increase the cited frequency of papers and even domestic and foreign journals;

2) arouse the attention of journals and improve the adoption rate of authors' papers;

3) promoting international academic exchanges and scientific research;

4) Promote the standardization and standardization of the writing format of papers, so as to be in line with international literature;

5) Improve the social and economic benefits of papers and even periodicals;

6) Improve the academic status and popularity of authors, periodicals and work units at home and abroad.

Two international and six famous retrieval systems

1) American SCIence citation index sci (see below).

2) American engineering index Ei (see below).

3) Chemical Abstracts (CA). The amount of chemical and chemical literature reported by CA accounts for about 98% of the total global chemical and chemical literature, and it is the most famous, comprehensive and widely used large-scale retrieval tool for searching chemical and chemical literature in the world.

4) British Scientific Abstracts (SA; Or inspected)

-Part A-Physical Abstracts (PA);

-Electronic and Electrical Abstracts (Part B-Electrical Engineering &; Electronic abstracts (EEA);

-Computer and Control Abstracts (CCA);

-Information technology.

5) The Russian Abstract Journal (AJ) or р (with more than 220 volumes * *) is called the three major comprehensive retrieval systems in the world.

6) Japanese Science and Technology Literature Express (CBST;; For printed version, *** 12 fascicle).

Now it has been expanded into a large database "Japan Science and Technology Information Center" (JICST). Known as the world's three comprehensive retrieval systems.

See appendix a for a list of important international retrieval systems.

3 American Science Citation Index (SCI)

The American Institute of Scientific Information (ISI) established the American Scientific Information Index (SCI) in Philadelphia on 1957. Over the past 40 years, SCI (or ISI) database has been developing continuously, and it has become the most important large-scale database in the contemporary world, ranking first among the six famous international retrieval systems. It is not only an important retrieval reference book, but also an important basis for evaluating scientific research achievements. It has become the most authoritative and important evaluation system of basic research and applied basic research achievements in the world. It is one of the important indicators to evaluate the academic level of a country, a scientific research institution, an institution of higher learning, a journal and even a researcher.

3. 1SCI source journals are of two grades.

NSCI. is the core library of SCI, with product code K (inner ring);

Nci extension (SCI-E for short), also known as SCI-Rearch. It is an extension library of SCI, and the product code is D (outer ring).

It is equally important to choose both inner and outer rings. The differences are: influencing factors, geographical factors, discipline balance and so on.

3.2 Six versions of Six products

①SCIPrint printing plate. 196 1 has been established so far. Bimonthly. Now there are more than 3700 kinds of periodicals, all of which are in the inner circle.

②SCI-CDE CD version. Quarterly update. Now there are more than 3700 kinds of periodicals, all of which are in the inner circle.

③SCI-CDEwithAbstracts, CD version with abstract. Updated month by month. Now there are more than 3700 kinds of periodicals, all of which are in the inner circle.

④ Tape database. Updated weekly. Now there are more than 5700 kinds of periodicals, the outer circle.

⑤SCISearchOnline online database. Updated weekly. Now there are more than 5700 kinds of periodicals, the outer circle.

4 American engineering index

4. 1 Introduction to American Engineering Index

Eingineringindex(Ei) was founded by EngineeringInformationInc in 1884. It is a large-scale retrieval system with engineering journals and conference documents as its main contents, and is known as the six famous retrieval systems in the world.

4.2Ei divides the papers included in it into two grades.

4.2. 1EiCompendex index summary. It includes the title, abstract, subject words and classification number of the paper for further processing; Whether there are subject words and classification numbers is the only sign to judge whether the paper is officially included in Ei.

4.2.2EiPageOne Title Record. It is not included in the abstract, and there are no subject words and classification numbers, so it will not be further processed. Some PageOne also have abstracts, but they have not been deeply processed, and there are no subject words and classification numbers. Therefore, it is not necessary to formally enter Ei with abstract.

See Appendix B for an example of distinguishing two grades of Ei-included papers.

4.3 Several stages of EQ development

At the beginning of the establishment of (1), printed editions of monthly and annual magazines (EiCompendex) were published from 1884.

② In 1970s, electronic database (EiCompendex) provided retrieval service through large online systems such as Dialog.

③ the optical disc format (EiCompendex) in 1980s.

④ Online database (CPXWeb for short) was provided in 1990s, and EngineeringVillage (Engineering Village:

EiCompendex+page one);

1999 nationwide 18 universities jointly purchased the right to use the network database and mirrored it in Tsinghua University Library;

In August, 2000, Ei launched the new version of Project Village 2 published at the end of 2000.

4.4Ei divides the collected periodicals into three grades.

① periodical expansion, about 2800 kinds. It only includes EiPageOne. In the expanded version of Ei, 1999 contains 156 Chinese periodicals; Journal of Computational Mechanics is listed in EiPageOne. It is reported that the expanded version of Ei will be cancelled in recent years.

② Selected journals, about 1600 kinds; His paper is only included as EiCompendex. Journal of Dalian University of Technology 1994 was listed as a selected journal.

③ There are about 1000 kinds of core journals; All papers in each issue are included. Journal of Metals and Journal of Tsinghua University are the core journals.

See table 1 for the number (②+③) of China periodicals collected by EiCompendex from 1996 to 2000.

Table 1EiCompendex includes statistics of China periodicals.

Note: 1) Journal of Northeastern University 1999 Vol.20, No.5, began to enter EI;

2) Journal of Harbin Institute of Technology, Journal of Harbin Institute of Technology (English version), Materials Science and Technology sponsored by Harbin Institute of Technology.

Will be included in the periodical source by Ei on 20011;

3) The number in the expansion number is the number of articles contained in the abstract.

4.5Ei's requirements for manuscript content and academic level

1) Engineering papers with high academic level, such as:

-Mechanical engineering, electromechanical engineering, ship engineering, manufacturing technology, etc. ;

-Mining, metallurgy, materials engineering, metal materials, nonferrous metals, ceramics, plastics and polymer engineering.

-Civil engineering, architectural engineering, structural engineering, ocean engineering, water conservancy engineering, etc. ;

-Electrical engineering, power plant, electronic engineering, communication, automatic control, computer, computing technology, software, aerospace technology, etc.

-Chemical engineering, petrochemical industry, combustion technology, biotechnology, light industry, textile and food industry;

-Project management.

Ei does not include academic theoretical papers on mathematics, physics, biology, medicine, agriculture and forestry.

2) Projects supported by National Natural Science Foundation, key scientific and technological projects and "863" high-tech projects.

3) The paper has reached the international advanced level and the results are innovative.

5. The writing format of the paper should comply with national standards, international standards and relevant provisions of SCI and Ei.

5. 1 Basic requirements

Must meet the requirements of the international retrieval system for the paper format, which should at least include the following items (English):

Title of the paper, author's name in Chinese Pinyin, author's work unit, abstract of the paper, literature sources and references.

5.2 Title of the paper

The title should be concise and exact, not too long and too general. English titles can omit definite articles and indefinite articles, such as the, a, an, etc.

The title shall not contain symbols, codes, mathematical formulas, chemical structural formulas, etc.

5.3 Chinese Pinyin of the author's name

Spelling should be carried out according to GB/T16159-1996 Basic Rules of Chinese Pinyin Orthography. Suggestion:

The author's surname comes first, all in capital letters. Capitalize the first letter after the name; Double-name hyphenation with a half-word line in the middle. Such as;

Lin Haolin Gao, Zhong Wanxie, Zhong Wanxie, Ouyang Huajiang, You Jiang.

Please don't write your last name after your first name:, Wang;

Please don't abbreviate your name.

The names of several authors are separated by commas: Lin Gao, Xie Zhongwan and Ouyang Huajiang.

5.4 Work unit

The work unit should be standardized, unified and stable, and the word "China" should be added at the end of the English translation. For example:

(Institute of Engineering Mechanics, Dalian University of Technology, Dalian, Liaoning 1 16024) Don't just write "Institute of Engineering Mechanics";

(School of Civil Engineering and Architecture, Dalian University of Technology, Liaoning 1 16024)

College of Civil Engineering; School of Architecture, Dalian University of Technology, China, Dalian 1 16024.

The second laboratory of Dalian Institute of Chemical Physics of Chinese Academy of Sciences should not be written as Dalian Institute of Chemical Physics or Dalian Institute of Chemical Physics.

For multiple authors and work units, it should be written as

Litchi-Gang 1, Sean-Dong 1, Wang Ping 2,-Shun 3.

(1.state key lab. of struct. anal. of ind. equipment, Dalian University of Technology, Dalian 1 16024, China; 2. National Institute of Machinery

Earthq。 Bureau, Harbin 150080, China; 3. Guangdong Academy of Earth Sciences, Guangzhou, China 5 10070)

5.5 English abstract

International important retrieval systems usually use English. When they collect abstracts of papers, they mainly look at whether the English abstracts are well written. Therefore, it is very important to improve the writing quality of English abstracts. Including: abstract content, format, tense of sentences, accuracy of words.

-Content of the abstract: For reportable abstracts, four elements of the research topic "purpose, method, result and conclusion" should be listed.

-Abstract length: 100~ 150 words, and the serial numbers of formulas, charts and references should not appear; Don't repeat the first sentence with the topic.

-Describe the author's work in the past tense and describe the author's conclusion in the present tense; Try to use active voice, not passive voice.

For Ei's requirements on English abstract writing, please refer to Appendix C "Standardization of English abstract writing of scientific papers".

5.6 References after the article

References should be carefully selected and standardized.

-carefully select and verify the level, quantity and publication year of the books and periodicals cited in the literature, because it can reflect the academic level and innovation degree of the paper. If a large number of textbooks are cited, SCI will not include this paper.

-The compilation of references should follow GB77 14-87 "Rules for the Description of References after Articles" (being revised) and "China Academic Journals (CD-ROM Edition) Retrieval and Evaluation Data Specification", and do a good job in the compilation of references.

-SCI specifically requires that all references in the text should be translated into English.

5.7 indicate the source of the paper

For important papers such as projects supported by the National Natural Science Foundation, key scientific and technological projects, and "863" high-tech projects, don't forget to indicate the name of standard funded projects in the footer of the first page of the paper, and write the approval number in brackets to prove the value of the paper. Because the projects of this kind of papers are approved by the relevant state departments after strict argumentation, they are valued by retrieval systems at home and abroad.

6 submission channels

Papers are included by SCI and Ei, academic level is the foundation, format is the condition, and submission method is the key. No matter how high the academic level of the paper is, if the direction of submission is wrong, it will not be included in ISI and Ei at all. It is suggested to contribute from the following five aspects.

1) to the Journal of Dalian University of Technology.

Journal of Dalian University of Technology 1994 has been included in EiCompendex. The contribution of good articles to the journal of our university can firmly establish the academic status of the journal, attract the attention of SCI and Ei, and form a virtuous circle.

2) Make full use of existing channels.

If your paper has been included in SCI and Ei, you should make full use of existing channels. Be familiar with the crowd and adapt to the publication format.

3) Invest in domestic periodicals

There are many manuscripts, which should be diverted; Not all of them can be published in the journal of our university, but they should be submitted to domestic journals that have been listed in the journal source list by SCI and Ei. note:

The list of source journals of-SCI is published in many domestic newspapers every year, but there are many mistakes. For example, since the end of 1999, the list of China periodicals published in major newspapers provided by American ISI has increased by 6 (non-China periodicals) and decreased by 8. After nearly a year's verification, we now put forward the "mailing address and e-mail address of China periodicals included in American SCI database 1999", see Appendix D for your reference.

—— Journal of Xi Jiaotong University published "List and Quantity of China Journals Collected by EiCompendex (CD-ROM Edition) 1999" in the 9th issue in 2000. However, in 2000, EI adjusted the periodicals in China: 14 periodicals were eliminated and 6 periodicals were added. When contributing to these journals, we should also pay attention to: ① some university journals do not accept contributions from outside the school; (2) Contributing to core journals; (3) You can contribute to the selected journals with more articles. Please refer to Appendix E "EI Compendex" for the mailing address of the editorial department of China periodical, which contains many articles.

4) Invest in international journals

Due to language barriers, English-language international journals are easier to enter SCI and Ei than Chinese journals, but their academic level is not necessarily higher than that of China journals. The number of periodicals entering SCI in China is limited; It is difficult to publish articles in such journals. Some manuscripts should be transmitted to the international community. At present, many universities are studying and sorting out the periodical source tables of SCI and Ei. Our school is also doing this work. I have mastered the mailing addresses and email addresses of most SCI core journals, and I can provide you with shortcuts.

5) Try to get your paper into the minutes of international conferences.

Both SCI and Ei include the proceedings of international conferences. Should take the initiative to participate in international academic conferences; If there are few opportunities to attend international conferences abroad, or if there are economic difficulties, we should try our best to attend international conferences held at home, especially on campus, and actively contribute. SCI and Ei are interested in the proceedings of such international conferences. During my recent visit to the United States, I had a feeling that it was much easier for such papers to enter SCI and Ei than to enter China journals.
