On Cao Zhi's Fu
In the history of China literature, Cao Zhi's fu plays an important role in inheriting Chu, Han, Qi, Wei, Jin, Southern and Northern Dynasties.

Its content mainly pays attention to military affairs, hurts flesh and blood, describes the true feelings of the world, touches everything in the world, and has strong reality, which promotes the fashion of lovers, improves lyric skills and gives artistic enlightenment to future generations.

From the content, it can be roughly divided into three categories. One kind is the chronological style, such as eastern levy, staging and narrative. Followed by narrative, such as Li Si Fu, Gan Jie Fu and Xi Ji Fu. The third kind is the ode to things, such as Bao Dao's ode, rosemary's ode and tortoise's ode. The latter two categories are more numerous.

Cao Zhi's contribution has three characteristics. First, draw on a wide range of materials and expand in the direction of daily life. Second, miniaturization. It seems that he has never written a great poem. Nowadays, all works are short poems, generally only a few hundred words, and the longest poem "Ode to Luo Shen" is only about a thousand words. Third, lyricism, regardless of chronological style or chanting objects, he abandoned the tradition of ostentation and extravagance of Han Fu, but permeated with strong subjective feelings.
