Head and neck department
Scale and advantages:
There are 2 wards and 72 beds. There are 7 professionals with senior titles, including 2 doctoral supervisors and 4 master supervisors. It is one of the head and neck oncology specialties with the strongest professional technical strength in China and has a high academic status at home and abroad. Features and achievements:
Mainly diagnose and treat benign and malignant tumors of head and neck, including laryngeal cancer, thyroid tumor, oral tumor, salivary gland tumor, nasal cavity and paranasal sinus tumor, nasopharyngeal, oropharyngeal and hypopharyngeal cancer, nasopharyngeal fibroangioma, head and neck skin tumor and vascular tumor, eye tumor, etc. After years of improvement and perfection, neck lymph node dissection has become a standard operation, and its characteristics have been recognized by academic circles at home and abroad. On the basis of years of scientific research and clinical research, radical operation and comprehensive treatment of laryngeal cancer with laryngeal function preserved were carried out, which improved the quality of life of patients with laryngeal cancer. Combined with surgery, chemotherapy and local stereotactic radiotherapy, the nasopharyngeal carcinoma focus after radiotherapy failure was treated with salvage, and good results were achieved. In the treatment of oral cancer, microwave tissue coagulation therapy is the first in China, which is used to treat cancer of the floor of the mouth and advanced tongue cancer, so that patients can retain the appearance of mandible and face on the basis of radical resection of the tumor; The study of sentinel lymph node and regional lymph node dissection in oral cancer has improved the quality of life of patients after operation.
According to the results of statistical multivariate analysis, the treatment scheme of thyroid lobectomy plus isthmus resection or subtotal lobectomy was proposed for single thyroid nodule. According to the statistics for many years, it is suggested that thyroid gland lobectomy plus isthmus resection is a reasonable operation for differentiated thyroid cancer, which improves the quality of life of patients. Craniofacial surgery is performed to treat sinus invasion of skull base and skull, or scalp malignant tumor. Local skin flap for postoperative defects of advanced head and neck malignant tumors. Many methods, such as myocutaneous flap or free tissue flap, can restore the appearance and function of patients and improve their quality of life. It advocates comprehensive treatment including chemotherapy, radiotherapy and surgery for locally advanced head and neck malignant tumors, and actively explores reasonable treatment methods for locally advanced head and neck malignant tumors. The treatment of head and neck hemangioma with chemical drug injection therapy has achieved good results.
Chest department
Thoracic Department is an important part of tumor surgery in Cancer Prevention and Control Center, and it is an earlier established thoracic tumor specialty in China. After years of development and efforts of several generations, it is the most powerful chest oncology specialty in South China. There are many talents in chest department. There are 4 professors, chief physicians (including 6 doctoral supervisors and 6 master supervisors), 5 associate professors, 5 attending physicians and 4 residents. At present, there are 8 doctors and 9 masters (including students). Among them, Professor Rong Tiehua is a doctoral supervisor, a chief expert on single diseases of esophageal cancer and lung cancer, concurrently secretary of the Party Committee of the Central Committee, standing member of the esophageal cancer professional committee of China Anti-cancer Association, and chairman of the Guangdong esophageal cancer professional committee of China Anti-cancer Association. Chief physician Yang, chief expert of single disease of breast cancer, chairman of Guangdong Breast Cancer Professional Committee of China Anti-cancer Association.
Thoracic department mainly diagnoses and treats benign and malignant tumors of the chest, including lung tumors, esophageal tumors, breast tumors, mediastinal tumors, pleural tumors and chest wall tumors. These include the most common cancers of esophagus, lung and breast. Chest three wards, beds 108. Over the past 30 years, more than 3,000 cases of esophageal cancer surgery, more than 4,000 cases of lung cancer surgery and more than 5,000 cases of breast cancer surgery have been carried out in general practice, and rich experience has been accumulated in the surgical treatment and comprehensive treatment of esophageal cancer, cardiac cancer, lung cancer, breast cancer, mediastinal tumor and chest wall tumor. The 5-year survival rates of esophageal cancer and lung cancer were 39.2% and 39% respectively, and the 5-year survival rates of stage ⅱ non-small cell lung cancer and breast cancer were as high as 70%.
Medical staff in the department constantly absorb and apply advanced scientific research achievements and technical experience at home and abroad, develop new surgical methods, and continuously improve the success rate of surgery. For the first time in our province, tracheoplasty, bronchoplasty, pulmonary artery plasty and partial resection of left atrium were applied to the surgical treatment of lung cancer. For the first time in our province, large esophageal resection, esophageal stripping, one-stage resection of bilateral lung tumors through median sternotomy, resection of huge chest wall tumors, breast-conserving surgery and breast reconstruction for breast cancer, and hand-assisted thoracoscopy were carried out to treat bilateral lung metastases. The cases of esophageal stent, tracheobronchial stent and mediastinoscopy in the diagnosis and examination of difficult diseases are in the leading position in China. At present, it is equipped with the most advanced esophageal ultrasound detector in China. Undertake scientific research projects of the State, Ministry of Health, Provincial Science and Technology Commission and Health Department *** 12. More than 5 high-quality papers/kloc-0 are published at home and abroad every year.
Abdominal department
Abdominal surgery is one of the important departments of the Cancer Center of Sun Yat-sen University, with a long history of 36 years. There are 0/2 physicians/kloc-0, 4 chief physicians and professors, 3 deputy chief physicians and associate professors, and 2 attending physicians, including 3 doctoral supervisors and 3 master supervisors. There are 3 doctoral students and 7 master students. Train senior doctors in dozens of provinces and regions across the country.
The main diseases diagnosed and treated in abdominal department are: colorectal tumor, stomach tumor, breast tumor, pancreatic tumor, retroperitoneal tumor, renal tumor, bladder tumor, prostate cancer, testicular tumor and skin, bone and soft tissue tumor. The treatment in our department is a comprehensive treatment based on surgery, especially the diagnosis and treatment of colorectal cancer is at the advanced level in China. Our work and efforts in early detection, early diagnosis, timely treatment and reduction of postoperative recurrence and metastasis of abdominal tumors have achieved good therapeutic effects and been affirmed by peers.
Every year, about 1000 patients from all over the country are treated. After our careful treatment and nursing, most patients have recovered, and quite a few patients have recovered through radical treatment. Many patients expressed their heartfelt thanks for our work, and the hospital leaders also spoke highly of it, and were rated as "advanced civilized departments" for many times. We have won the trust of the masses with superb medical skills and noble medical ethics, and become one of the main centers for the prevention and treatment of abdominal tumors in South China.
Now it has 70 hospital beds. Among them, the diagnosis and treatment level of colorectal cancer is in a leading position in China, especially the nursing of artificial anus after Miles operation for rectal cancer. 1996 held a provincial training course for colostomy therapists. 1998 approved by the Ministry of Continuing Education, held a national education project: colostomy therapists training course, which has been held for the fourth time. The students come from large general hospitals and specialized hospitals such as Beijing, Shanghai and Tianjin, as well as from basic hospitals. There are both nurses and doctors with senior titles. The students responded well and the number increased year by year. 200 1 the fourth session, there were 50 students, but unfortunately, many medical staff could not be recruited. What excites the vast number of ostomy practitioners and medical staff is that the first ostomy therapist school of Sun Yat-sen University of Medical Sciences was formally established in March, 2006 with the efforts of Professor Wan Desen and medical staff of our department and the care and support of the college leaders, and the first batch of 1 1 students were successfully trained. They are also the first batch of self-taught students in China who hold the qualification of the World Stomatologist Association. Our department has trained nearly a thousand ostomy therapists with professional knowledge and skills for many years, and has gradually become the training base for ostomy therapists in China.
In order to prevent postoperative liver metastasis and intraperitoneal implantation of digestive tract tumors, the department carried out intraoperative intestinal chemotherapy, portal vein 5-FU perfusion and intraperitoneal chemotherapy. Postoperative portal vein 5-FU continuous perfusion, intraperitoneal chemotherapy pump implantation and other projects. Editor-in-Chief of Clinical Oncology and Community Oncology; Joint editor of hepatobiliary oncology; Participated in the compilation of "China Common Malignant Tumor Liver Disease Treatment and Diagnosis Criteria" (Volume III of Colorectal Cancer); Co-translated Tumor Surgery, Cancer Chemotherapy: Principles and Practice, etc. He has presided over many international, national and regional conferences, including the first China-Australia-New Zealand International Cancer Conference, the annual meeting of the Colorectal Cancer Professional Committee of Guangdong Anti-Cancer Association and the paper exchange meeting.
Hepatobiliary department
Hepatobiliary Department is one of the key departments in Cancer Hospital of Sun Yat-sen University. As early as 1964, South China Cancer Hospital (the predecessor of Sun Yat-sen University Cancer Hospital) devoted itself to the study of primary liver cancer. It is the earliest research base of liver cancer in South China and one of the earliest hospitals in China to carry out surgical treatment of liver cancer. For many years, he has been shouldering the research work on the prevention and treatment of liver cancer in this area. Gratifying achievements have been made in the past 30 years. The Liver Cancer Research Office of Sun Yat-sen Medical University and the Guangdong Liver Cancer Research Collaboration Group have been established one after another, and they have special wards. 65438-0998, the Liver Cancer Research Center of Sun Yat-sen Medical University was established independently. It is the only professional department in China that integrates liver cancer surgery, interventional therapy, radiotherapy and traditional Chinese medicine, and can choose the best single disease treatment scheme for patients and achieve the best curative effect. At present, there are 62 specialist beds in hepatobiliary department, including general technical backbone 15, 8 with sub-professional titles or above, 4 graduate students, doctoral students 1 person and postdoctoral students 1 person. There are also 25 other related professionals who form a single disease treatment management team for liver cancer, which is responsible for the treatment of liver cancer in the hospital and the formulation of the optimal treatment plan.
Equipped with two Darron's B-ultrasound diagnostic instruments (equipped with multifunctional ultrasonic probes for preoperative and intraoperative location diagnosis), a DSA diagnostic therapeutic instrument and a radio frequency therapeutic instrument, we can accurately diagnose and treat patients with liver disease in tumor hospital with advanced equipment such as CT, MRI and radiotherapy machine. The treatment of primary liver cancer includes surgical resection, interventional therapy, radiotherapy and chemotherapy. Among them, surgical resection is the best. With the continuous improvement of surgical technology, the surgical resection rate of liver cancer is also increasing. Since the 1980s, our department has improved the surgical methods for liver cancer to replace the previous regular hepatectomy, and conducted a comprehensive study on the indications and technical operation effects of irregular hepatectomy for the first time in China. Practice has proved that the operation is simple, especially suitable for patients with liver cirrhosis, and can improve the resection rate and overall curative effect of liver cancer. Up to now, nearly 2000 patients with liver cancer have been surgically removed in our department (one of the three hospitals with the largest number of cases in China). The overall 5-year survival rate of patients after operation is 40%, and the 5-year survival rate of patients with small liver cancer can reach more than 55%. Many patients survived healthily for more than 20 years after operation.
In view of the characteristics of high postoperative recurrence rate and poor curative effect of liver cancer, our department took the lead in the research of reducing postoperative recurrence rate and improving survival rate of liver cancer by using postoperative adjuvant interventional therapy in China, and obtained research funds from the State Education Commission and the Ministry of Health, which confirmed that postoperative interventional therapy can reduce recurrence rate and improve survival rate. At the same time, combined with basic research such as molecular biology, the diagnostic criteria and adjuvant treatment measures for high-risk groups of postoperative recurrence of liver cancer were put forward for the first time in China. Our department has carried out interventional therapy since 1989 10 for more than 2000 cases of liver cancer, and achieved satisfactory results. It gives many patients the opportunity of second-stage resection and prolongs the survival time of many patients with advanced liver cancer. 65438-0996 underwent non-vascular interventional therapy under the guidance of B-ultrasound, including local treatment of liver cancer, such as ethanol injection, microwave therapy and radio frequency therapy. These emerging minimally invasive techniques provide a new therapeutic approach for patients with liver cancer. While continuously improving the level of clinical medical technology, our department also actively carries out various scientific research work to provide reliable theoretical basis for clinical progress. With the in-depth study of liver cancer, it is difficult to improve the curative effect simply by surgical resection or interventional therapy. How to integrate surgical techniques, interventional therapy, radiotherapy and traditional Chinese medicine is an important part of the comparative research project of liver cancer surgery and interventional therapy undertaken by our department. Through the above research projects, a set of optimized treatment model for liver cancer, which integrates surgery, intervention, radiotherapy, traditional Chinese medicine and other technologies, was initially explored, and the pathology, molecular biology, liver reserve function and drug sensitivity of liver cancer were further studied.
department of gynecology
Gynecology, as an important part of the surgical system of the Cancer Center of Sun Yat-sen University, has experienced the unremitting efforts and hard work of several generations of famous gynecologic oncology professors and experts for more than 30 years, and trained a group of gynecologists with skilled surgical skills. With its strong clinical research strength, it not only undertakes heavy clinical work, but also undertakes the research and teaching tasks of gynecological tumors, and has a high academic status at home and abroad. Doctor 15, including 4 senior titles, 6 associate senior titles, 3 intermediate titles, 2 residents and 6 master's tutors. Gynecology has 70 beds.
Medical and clinical
After many years of clinical practice, we have made a routine diagnosis and treatment plan for common gynecological tumors, such as cervical cancer, endometrial cancer, ovarian cancer, vulvar cancer, malignant trophoblastic tumor and hysteromyoma. , and achieved good results, especially the diagnosis, treatment and nursing level of cervical cancer and ovarian cancer reached the advanced level at home and abroad.
Radical operation of cervical cancer was boldly improved, and the operation time was obviously shortened. The five-year survival rate of patients with cervical cancer is 80%. Over the years, our experts have conducted surgical exchanges abroad and all over the country, and won wide acclaim from peers. The mortality rate of ovarian cancer is the highest among gynecological cancers. Thorough surgery is the key to improve the survival rate of patients with ovarian cancer. Cytoreductive surgery of ovarian cancer is very difficult. Surgeons should not only master the skills of gynecological surgery, but also have the foundation of abdominal surgery, urology and other operations. There are some experienced gynecologists in this department who are qualified for the operation of ovarian cancer cytoreductive surgery. 1964 our department took the lead in proposing and applying intraperitoneal chemotherapy for ovarian cancer in China, and based on years of experience and clinical research results, we summarized and formulated a series of chemotherapy schemes. The 5-year survival rate of stage I ovarian cancer diagnosed and treated in our department is over 90%, and the 5-year survival rate of patients with stage II and III ovarian cancer who completed the treatment as planned is 60%, which is significantly higher than the total 5-year survival rate of 30-40% reported in the literature. In addition to surgery, chemotherapy is a major feature. Over the years, we have carried out intraperitoneal chemotherapy, intubation of inferior epigastric artery, obturator artery, superficial temporal artery and superior thyroid artery for local chemotherapy, combined with systemic chemotherapy, surgery and radiotherapy, which has obviously improved the curative effect of advanced gynecological cancer and recurrent tumor and improved the quality of life of patients.
Scientific research and academic exchange
Medical treatment and scientific research complement each other and promote each other. In addition to clinical work, our department also attaches great importance to developing scientific research and strengthening connotation construction. Published more than 10 papers in national core journals every year. The projects being undertaken include: the provincial key research project "Experimental study of P53 gene therapy for high-risk cervical cancer" funded by the Provincial Health Department, "Study on the clinical significance of cell cycle regulation genes of epithelial ovarian cancer", "Prediction of chemotherapy efficacy and chemotherapy sensitivity of malignant tumor", "Clinical study of reversing drug resistance of ovarian cancer", "Treatment of pelvic recurrence of cervical cancer with tumor suppressor gene P53 combined with arterial infusion chemotherapy" and many funds funded by the Provincial Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine. Such as "Study on the Treatment of Advanced Cervical Cancer with Integrated Traditional Chinese and Western Medicine", "Experimental Study on Apoptosis of Cervical Cancer HeLa Cells Induced by Elemene", "Experimental and Clinical Study on Reversing Multidrug Resistance of Ovarian Cancer with Tetrandrine Combined with Chemotherapy" and Central Fund. The research direction of most subjects is the focus of gynecological oncology research in recent years.
He also edited the diagnosis and treatment of ovarian malignant tumor, diagnosis and treatment of cervical cancer, diagnosis and treatment of vulvar tumor, new obstetrics and gynecology surgery, gynecological oncology and other works.
Actively strengthen exchanges and cooperation with counterparts at home and abroad, and actively participate in relevant national academic conferences. Invited many famous professors at home and abroad to give lectures. Our experts went to Canada, Australia, Hong Kong and other places for academic exchanges, and successfully held the fourth national and international conference on gynecological oncology and the national study class on gynecological oncology, which expanded their influence.
Talent echelon and teaching
There is a team with good medical, scientific research and teaching quality. Undertake a variety of teaching tasks such as universities, undergraduates, graduate students and advanced students. For two consecutive years, she undertook the national continuing medical education project ovarian cancer study class. Send young and middle-aged backbones to Australia, Hong Kong and other places for training, absorb advanced technology at home and abroad, and enhance their scientific research strength. In addition, young and middle-aged doctors are encouraged to actively carry out scientific research on the basis of completing clinical work, forming a good academic atmosphere.
The development of the discipline is guided by maintaining and consolidating the clinical advantages of our department, and will focus on some basic research related to clinic. Strive to make the clinical scientific research level of our department reach a new level and connect with the international standards.
