MiRNA is widely found in our previous foods, and it has existed for at least hundreds of millions of years. It is generally believed that it can also be decomposed into small molecular monomers and then absorbed. Later, a scientist in China found that miRNA can be completely absorbed, so the person who was turned upside down in our country got a treasure. On this basis, they believe that miRNA in genetically modified foods will cause health problems after entering the human body.
But there are two problems:
1, the direct entry of miRNA into cells has not been recognized by other scientists and the scientific community, so it is difficult to ensure that there is no possibility of pollution during its experiment.
2. Even if it is true that miRNA directly enters cells, it should have existed for hundreds of millions of years, and the problem also exists in non-GM foods. When transgenic, the transferred gene is certain, and the miRNA formed by it is also certain, which will not be harmful to human body. Generally speaking, direct entry into cells should not cause damage, but cross breeding and mutation breeding may cause much greater miRNA damage to human cells. If miRNA can cause damage to cells, it has existed for hundreds of millions of years, which is not unique to genetically modified foods, and the possibility of such damage seems to be lower. This further confirms the long-standing conclusion that genetically modified foods and non-genetically modified foods are essentially the same, and there are no special unsafe factors in genetically modified foods.
