3. Distinguish tinnitus from deafness
(1) Tinnitus attack, loud voice, hearing loss, mostly caused by fire in the liver and gallbladder, or phlegm-fire stagnation disturbing the orifices.
(2) Tinnitus gradually develops, the voice becomes thinner, and the hearing gradually declines, which is mostly caused by yin deficiency of liver and kidney, inflammation of fire deficiency, or loss of qi and blood, and dystrophy of the back of the ear.
(3) Tinnitus, like cicada, mostly belongs to deficiency of liver and kidney, deficiency of heart and kidney, and deficiency of qi and blood; Tinnitus, such as tidal sound and wind, mostly belongs to the syndrome of excess heat in the liver and gallbladder and pathogenic factors blocking the ears.
(4) Sudden deafness is mostly caused by wind, heat and humidity, or by earwax and foreign bodies; Gradually deafness is mainly caused by deficiency of liver, kidney, spleen and other viscera.
