1982, doctor of genetics, University of British Columbia, Canada.
1986- 199 1 worked as an assistant professor and associate professor in the biology department of the university of rochester.
199 1- 1998 Associate Professor, Department of Ecology and Evolution, University of Chicago; Professor Ren, head of the department. In June 2008, he was appointed as the director of Beijing Genome Research Institute.
Professor Chung-I Wu is currently Professor Changjiang of Sun Yat-sen University, and is the deputy editor-in-chief of Molecular systems genetics and Evolutionary Chemistry (USA), Journal of Genetics (USA), Journal of American Naturalists (USA), Genome Biology and Evolution (USA), Gene and Genetic System (Japan) and Journal of Zoology (China). In 2004, Professor Chung-I Wu was appointed as an academician of Academia Sinica. He has been engaged in the research of population genetics since 1980s, and has made original contributions to two basic problems of evolutionary biology, namely species formation and natural selection, selfish genetic factors, molecular clocks, X chromosome suppression and evolutionary genomics. After 2005, Chung-I Wu opened a new research field and began to solve the problem of microRNA speciation. He has published nearly 120 papers in the world's top academic journals such as Science, Nature and PNAS.
