Development history and general situation: the specialty of animal medicine in College of Animal Science and Technology of Southwest University can be traced back to private West China Sheikh University 1923. After nearly a hundred years of running a school, with the unremitting efforts of several generations of veterinarians (animal medicine), adhering to the university spirit of Southwest University and learning the world, the talent training concept of "based on comprehensiveness, based on specialty and belonging to individuality" has been formed. 1995 set up the first master's degree program in veterinary obstetrics in southwest China. (1) Fish genetic development and resource proliferation direction
This direction mainly focuses on the protection, excavation and utilization of aquatic germplasm resources and gene resources. The key research contents include: evaluation and tracking monitoring of fish proliferation and release effect in the Three Gorges reservoir area, genetic diversity and germplasm identification of famous fish in the upper reaches of the Yangtze River, and preservation of original species; Molecular genetic markers of excellent traits, cloning of important functional genes, establishment of gene transformation system and bioengineering breeding; Molecular developmental biology of zebrafish, a model organism, and growth and development regulation of economic fish.
