Table 3- 1 Motorcycle Periodic Maintenance Schedule
Table 3- 1 Schedule of Regular Maintenance of Motorcycles (Continued)-1
(1) Primary maintenance
After the motorcycle runs for a certain mileage (generally 1000 ~ 2000 km), the parts to be lubricated should be filled with lubricant according to regulations, and the exposed bolts and nuts of the vehicle should be tightened. This maintenance work centered on lubrication and fastening is called primary maintenance. In addition to routine maintenance items, the following items should be added to the first-level maintenance:
(1) When the motorcycle chain is driven, the chain should be removed for cleaning; The belt-driven motorcycle should be cleaned by removing the pulley.
② Clean carburetor, air filter and fuel switch.
③ Remove the carbon deposit on the spark plug, and check and adjust the electrode gap.
(4) Check whether the cable connector of the whole vehicle is in good contact.
⑤ Check and adjust the free travel of clutch handle, accelerator handle, brake handle or pedal, and add lubricating oil to the control cable.
⑥ Lubricate the flexible shafts of speedometer and tachometer with grease.
⑦ Change the oil.
(2) Secondary maintenance
Maintenance centered on inspection and adjustment is called secondary maintenance. Motorcycles should be kept in the second class after driving for 3000~6000km. In addition to the primary maintenance items, the following items should be added to the secondary maintenance content:
① Remove carbon deposits on cylinders, cylinder heads, pistons, piston rings and silencers.
② Check the wear of clutch friction plates and brake pads on brake shoes, and adjust or replace them according to the wear.
③ Check and adjust the contact clearance of the circuit breaker.
④ Check whether the axial runout and radial runout of the front and rear rims meet the requirements. If the runout is too large, it should be adjusted or replaced.
⑤ Check and adjust the valve clearance.
⑥ Adjust the position of the rear shock absorber appropriately.
⑦ Check the toner between the commutator of clean engine and starter.
(3) Three-level maintenance
The maintenance work centered on disassembling motorcycle assembly, checking and eliminating hidden dangers is called three-level maintenance. Three-level maintenance is generally carried out after driving 6000 ~ 10000 km, and should be inspected at motorcycle repair station.
① Dismantle the engine, remove carbon deposits on the cylinder head, piston crown, piston ring and exhaust port, check the clearance between piston and cylinder wall, connecting rod small head bearing and piston pin, big head bearing and crankshaft pin, and check the runout of the left and right halves of crankshaft.
② Disassemble the clutch, check the free length of the clutch spring and the thickness of the friction plate, and replace the spring or friction plate if necessary.
③ Check the transmission gear for cracks, ablation, peeling and serious step wear.
④ Disassemble the steering column assembly, clean the steering column bearing, add enough grease, and adjust the clearance after reassembly.
⑤ Remove the front shock absorber, check whether the free length of the spring of the front shock absorber meets the requirements, and replace the oil of the front shock absorber.
⑥ Check the abrasion of brushes and commutators of generators and starters, and replace them if necessary.
