Which plants can be disguised?
In some parts of southern Africa, people often see some gray-black "pebbles" among rocks. Sometimes, beautiful flowers will bloom on these pebbles. It turns out that this is not a pebble, but a plant! This plant grows in rocks, and only a few thick leaves touch the ground. Its leaves are like pebbles in color and shape, so people gave it a name called raw stone flower, which means flowers that grow on stones. The shape and color of raw stone flowers are similar to pebbles, which can fool the eyes of herbivores and prevent them from being eaten! This phenomenon that plants are similar to the environment is called plant mimicry by scientists. The mimicry of plants is similar to the protective color of animals, which can protect themselves. In the Himalayan region of China, there is a POTAMOGETON. It looks like a cobra with its head held high and its tongue sticking out! It often makes some small herbivores afraid to eat it, which can be regarded as a wonderful plant mimicry phenomenon.
