An argumentative essay on water.
Since 1982, Ethiopia in eastern Africa has suffered from severe drought for several years. In these arid countries, the land is cracked, rivers are cut off, plants and trees wither, livestock die and grain grains fail. People are hungry and thirsty. In the great famine of 1985, the lives of 1 0/10,000 people were threatened, and about110,000 people died of hunger and thirst. From 199 1 to 1992, many countries in East Africa suffered from severe drought, and millions of victims were short of water and food.

From the above example, we can see the importance of water. Without water, there would be no plants. Without plants, there would be no animals, and there would be no humans. Therefore, water is the source of life, the messenger of prosperity, the element of tourism and the root of happiness. As an extremely important resource, water plays an increasingly important role in social development. However, the reality is not optimistic.

As we know, the earth is called "water polo". In fact, most of its water is ocean water, that is, salt water, accounting for 96.53%, and our fresh water resources on land only account for 3.47%. Not only that, our fresh water is mainly distributed at the two poles of our earth. So we really used a little water? Yes, we have so little fresh water resources. Even with such a little water, human beings themselves have been seriously polluted. In human activities, a large number of industrial, agricultural and domestic wastes will be discharged into water bodies and pollute them. At present, more than 420 billion cubic meters of sewage is discharged into rivers, lakes and seas every year, polluting 5.5 trillion cubic meters of fresh water, which is equivalent to more than 14% of the total global runoff.

Doesn't this number scare you?

Also, this is water pollution in the world, and water pollution in China is also very serious. Professor Qu, chairman of the Environment and Resources Protection Committee of the National People's Congress of China and former director of the State Environmental Protection Bureau, said at a press conference held in the Great Hall of the People some time ago: "In China, 40% of the river water environment systems have been polluted to varying degrees; There are too many "nutrients" in rivers, especially lakes, and the degree of eutrophication has reached a very serious level; . Acid rain pollution is serious in some areas, accounting for 30% of the total area of China; " These are all caused by water pollution in our country.

Therefore, how to protect and use water resources and prevent water pollution is not only related to human life and health, but also to the rise and fall of the whole earth. The state, society and individuals should attach great importance to it.

As far as the country is concerned, I think the most important thing is to protect and manage water resources according to law. Fortunately, at present, there are relevant laws to protect water resources in China, but some laws are not enough. What is the law? The law is a sharp arrow, and the law is the messenger of protection, protecting the precarious water resources. However, the existence of laws does not mean the protection of water resources. As the saying goes, "a knife doesn't sharpen." This is how the law works. If we don't enforce the law in place, if we don't really enforce it strictly, if we violate the law, then the law is equal to zero. Therefore, we must abide by the law, strictly enforce the law and punish those who violate the law. Only in this way can we effectively punish those who waste and pollute water at will.

It is not enough to rely solely on the state and laws. This requires the strength of society. I think it is very important for society to advocate afforestation. If there are no trees, soil erosion and ecological destruction will have a chain reaction. Take the Yellow River as an example. It is called the Yellow River because its sediment concentration is so high that its water turns yellow. Not only that, it is also called "the river on the ground", because its soil erosion is very serious, and the sand has sunk to the bottom of the river, raising the riverbed. What is more serious is that the river bed is raised, which is easy to cause the Yellow River to burst. According to statistics, during the more than 2,500 years from 602 A.D. to A.D. 1938 A.D., the Yellow River burst 1590 times, and there were 26 major migrations and diversions, each of which caused tens of thousands of deaths. Therefore, afforestation is another effective and important method to protect water resources.

So what should we do? I think we should strengthen the consciousness of saving, protecting and managing water resources. People always think that water is inexhaustible. This is a very wrong view. It is estimated that if urban residents save 1 1,000 grams of water every day, they can save more than 1 1,000 tons of water a year. This is a huge water resource.

So I think we should protect and make rational use of water resources to prevent water pollution. Let's work together, cherish every drop of resources and create a home for us!
