Lu Opera is a kind of drama evolved from Shandong. In the winter of 1900, Shi Dianyuan, a piano calligrapher in Guangrao, Shandong Province, borrowed from the art form of Beijing Opera and changed the piano calligraphy work "Wang Xiao Grasping Feet" into a costume performance for the first time, which caused a sensation. This is the original performance form of Lu Opera. In this way, the local drama of Lu Opera has a history of one hundred years.

There have always been several opinions about the name of Lu Opera. One view is that the first play of Lu Opera, Wang Xiao CuO Jiao, is mainly composed of paper donkeys, so the original Lu Opera was also called "Donkey Opera". Another way of saying it is: Lu Opera is good at expressing the feelings of men and women and family ethics, which is mostly related to husband and wife, also known as "husband and wife drama". Another way of saying it is: Twenty-five households in ancient times were a drama, which was especially good at expressing neighborhood life, so it was also called "drama". After nearly half a century's inheritance and development, on the eve of the founding of New China, although the art of Lu Opera has matured, there is still no unified title. In the early 1950s, when considering the naming of Lu Opera, someone proposed to call it Lu Opera. Mr. China, a famous writer who was then deputy director of the Shandong Provincial Department of Culture, thought it was inappropriate, and suggested adopting the word "Lv" in the Twelve Laws of Ancient Music in China, and unifying the three sounds of "Donkey", "Couple" and "Lv". The proposal was approved. Like other local operas, the dialogue of Lu Opera is also very interesting. Jinan dialect is the main dialect, and the ending is mostly flat. During the "Cultural Revolution", it was suggested that model operas should be transplanted into Lu operas, and the results were neither fish nor fowl. For example, in the model play "Harbor", the loading and unloading captain has two words facing the Huangpu River: "Huangpu River, Huangpu River!" Beijing dialect is full of excitement, but it has been transplanted into Lu opera. When it was spoken in Jinan dialect, the ending became a tone, which caused the audience to burst into laughter.

As a native local opera, Lu Opera began to enter the stage at the beginning of this century and reached its peak in the middle of this century. There are not only thirty-eight Lu Opera Troupes in Shandong Province, but also some areas adjacent to Shandong Province in Jiangsu Province. In addition, as long as there are Shandong people in Xinjiang, Liaoning, Jilin and Heilongjiang, the melody of Lu opera is flying. The 1950s was the glorious period of Lu Opera, with many famous actors and many new dramas, which were performed on the same stage in Beijing with Anhui Huangmei Opera. With the implementation of the new marriage law, Li Er's Wife Remarries, a Lu drama, is popular all over the country. A good play makes a famous actor, and a famous actor wins glory for the play. The Fairy Couple sings about Yan Fengying, and Sister-in-law Li Er remarries about Lang Xianfen. At that time, Li Er's sister-in-law became the idol of many young people. At that time, almost every county in Shandong had professional Luban, and every village had amateur Luban. This is a good opportunity to make Lu opera fans more addicted in the off-season. Professional troupes in the county go to the countryside to perform, and if a company doesn't perform for ten days and a half, it won't be able to get out of Taiwan. There are eight villages around, and all the people, men and women, old and young, are full, and they refuse to leave for a long time after the performance. The melody of Lu Opera is dancing with snowflakes, which is very popular, especially the beautiful and familiar aria in Wang's "Borrowing the Year": "It's snowing, New Year's Eve, I'm going to my father-in-law's house to borrow the Year ...". Even in the mouth of village women who are busy sewing in the light, they often say, "In the light, I will fly needles to make a pair of new shoes for him to wear ..."
