Miao Zhongchun is resourceful, well-read and proficient in military affairs, agriculture, astronomy and geography. Especially for medical works, I seriously study and ponder. After reading the books at home, I borrowed them from Zhao Yongxian's house a few blocks away from home. Zhao's library is called Maiwangguan, which contains many precious medical books carved in the Song Dynasty. Miao Ru got the most treasures: he was addicted to the study of books and mountains all day, "delving into analysis, cutting and understanding" and "remembering when he met his heart". Over time, it has laid a solid theoretical foundation in medicine. During the period, he also took advantage of the opportunity of nearby patients seeking medical treatment, and also actively observed and learned the skills of doctors in treating diseases and using drugs. He was surprised to see an old doctor competing to treat bloody dysentery with "grass silkworm". Because this medicine has no record of treating dysentery in ancient books. Later, after his trial, he got a "good test". From then on, he gradually realized that "ancient and modern are different, five sides are different, the depth of feeling is different, and the thickness of thieves is different." If you hold the ancient square, it will be like a rubber column. "So his mind formed the idea that" ancient prescriptions are incompatible with new diseases ". He believes that although many ancient classics should be read by doctors, they must be "changed" so that the law will not end in poverty. "
When Miao Zhongchun was twenty-seven or twenty-eight, he made great academic achievements and began a long career of traveling and practicing medicine. He not only "traveled" all over Jiangsu, but also went south to worship in Zhejiang, set foot in the "Qilu Zhao Yan Market" in the north, and "drifted to Jiangxi" and traveled to Anhui, Hunan, Hubei and Jiangxi provinces. He lives in a place full of overseas Chinese, so he calls himself "Yu Gong". Regardless of remuneration, regardless of wealth. It can also break the custom of "doctors don't lock the door" and "be busy when you are alive". When he diagnosed the disease, he was very careful and treated it more often. In the thirty-fourth year of Wanli (1575-1576), living in Beijing, a small Tsing Yi got typhoid fever and persisted for a long time. Other doctors refused to see a doctor because the patient's family was poor and his condition was serious. After Miao Zhongfu knew it, he rushed to the rescue. On the second day of June in the 43rd year of Wanli, Miao Zhongchun learned that his brother was seriously ill and went to Kunshan to meet scholar Zhang Dafu. Zhang was very moved.
During the trip, Miao Zhongchun also looked for teachers and friends everywhere, stepped forward to "feather guest and Chai Cun, and looked forward to it, and let go of it", and even missed the opportunity to learn from fellow travelers. "Wherever you go, you must visit a doctor and bring a knife and pencil" and accept new knowledge. He was in Jingshan, Zhejiang Province, and studied under the famous monk Bai Zi. In Wuchang, Jiangxi, he visited Deng Siji, a medical officer, and taught him his secret recipe. In Jiujiang, I asked a folk doctor named Zhu for the method of "treating acne differently", which was "rich in secret recipes from past dynasties". For example, there are no folk prescriptions for treating lung abscess, such as Houttuynia cordata, Liutou measles in Xihe River and anti-aging Schisandra chinensis. They are all handed down from Miao Zhongchun's visit and records. The efficacy of these drugs has been confirmed by modern pharmacological research and clinical application. Among them, Houttuynia cordata Thunb is also synthesized into houttuynia cordata Thunb by modern chemical methods, which is widely used in clinic. 1578, Miao Zhongchun met the famous doctor Wang Kentang when he went to Moling (now Nanjing) to practice medicine, and they talked about medicine together, which was very speculative. Miao Zhongchun published many incisive academic opinions, and passed the secret recipe of Shiseido Pill to Wang Kentang without reservation, which made the learned Wang Kentang fall. Wang Kentang tried it on himself, and after it proved to be effective, he presented it to his father as a "photo of the rest of his life" and praised it as a "magic prescription". Miao Zhongchun also highly praised Wang as a "skilled doctor". He also discussed with Wang Kentang to learn from each other and live together. For example, "Meng Kang-Xiu doesn't eat hot or cold for a long time in the cloud, which is very dangerous. It is not advisable to inject cold and heat. Zhong Chun looked through the books, consulted with Wang Yutai (the name of Wang Kentang), and threw five pills to make a solution. " Later, he also recorded it in the book Zhai Guang after waking up first. This kind of performance that does not hide its own shortcomings is really a story in medical circles. When Miao Zhongchun was forty years old, he ended his ten-year journey in Wan Li and returned to his hometown of Changshu. This enabled him to make friends with wise men, enjoy the beautiful scenery of mountains and rivers and gain a lot of knowledge beyond books, thus tempering his will, broadening his mind and increasing his knowledge. He changed from a scholar to an expert in various clinical disciplines. The elders in my hometown are deeply impressed by it. Shortly after he returned to China, on a sunny spring day in the 14th year of Wanli (1586), Mrs. Qu of a large family was weak after marriage and could not bear children, so she asked Zhong Chun to "diagnose the cause". Miao Zhongchun saw that Mrs. Qu's appearance was not obviously morbid and her daily life was as usual. Observing her pulse, I found that she was "stringy and lifeless". Chord is the liver pulse, while thin one belongs to qi failure, which is the manifestation of liver qi failure and stomach qi exhaustion. Neijing says that "the pulse without stomach qi will die", and his conclusion is that "although he is innocent today, he will soon die". Three months later, Mrs. Qu was very ill. After the news spread, Miao Zhongchun was called a "magic doctor" who felt the pulse like a god. Since then, people have been coming to seek medical treatment. Not only in neighboring counties, but also in Zhejiang and other places, people often come to visit or invite home visits. In the fifteenth year of Wanli (1587), Shiyue Pavilion in Huzhou suffered from fever, and the nearby famous doctor thought that he would die, so he invited Miao Zhongchun to make house calls. After the examination, he said to the patient, "My vitality has not been exhausted, so I will not die." After taking a dose of medicine, the high fever subsided. At that time, the patient had been unable to defecate for more than 20 days. Miao Zhongchun opened another Maimendong soup and told the patient to drink more sweet juice to defecate the next day. The fever for more than 20 days was cured with only two doses of medicine.
Miao Zhongchun is a person who values honesty and economy, and cares about the national economy and people's livelihood. In the early years of Wanli, when reforming state affairs, Zhang suggested that water conservancy should be built in the north and good farmers in the south should be called to plant rice, so as to change the situation of "raising grain to the south" in Beijing. This suggestion was adopted by the engineer. In the middle of Wanli, that is, after Miao Zhongchun was fifty years old, the Ming Dynasty became increasingly corrupt, and mine supervisors and tax collectors went out to extort money, and the people were miserable and sorrowful. Miao Zhongchun witnessed the hard times and was worried. He once wrote a poem: "It is hard to say that the heart and the world are sad, and the philosopher thinks about danger." He resolutely joined the Lindong Party, and together with Lindong, party member, Ding Yuanjian, Qian Yiben and Yu Yili, he "looked forward to the festival" and "satirized politics and cut stars" to fight against the eunuch party. With this move, his family moved to Changxing, Zhejiang, and became neighbors with Ding Yuanjian. He encouraged Yu Yuli to lay down his life in the court, plead for the people and maintain integrity. He also talked with Qian about state affairs and condemned the official party as a "villain" who endangered the country and ignored human life. He also visited Qianben in Changzhou in the middle of the night and delivered the message of struggle for the Miaochang family twice. Therefore, in the Lindong Party, there is a name of "a famous doctor in the summer". Miao Zhongchun's words and deeds, of course, can't escape the eyes and ears of the national official party. When they found out, they held a grudge and waited for revenge. First of all, Zhong Chunen's teacher Zipai, close friend Yu Yuli and student Shen Wei ran to Beijing to stop mining taxes and were arrested by the "Demon Book" incident. Zi Heng died in prison, Yu Yue was dismissed and Shen was exiled. Later, the courtier Wang compiled a book "Points to Record", comparing party member to 108 generals in the water margin. Among them, Changshu people and people related to Changshu accounted for five, and Miao Zhongchun was compared to "An Daoquan Imperial Doctor" and prepared to frame him. Later, someone was framed. Because Miao is a civilian and lives as a doctor, his whereabouts are uncertain. Soon, the eunuch was defeated and he survived. But this made him suffer a great mental blow, feeling that "his good friend is dying and his thoughts are cold." From then on, he called himself a "adherent" and compared it to a man who robbed Yu.
In the following twenty years, Miao Zhongchun devoted himself to medical education and writing in order to realize his original intention of "contributing to the world". He always answers questions and answers people who come to consult, from ancient medical theory to temporary diagnosis technology, from secret recipe to unique method. He also paid special attention to medical ethics education, and wrote a paper entitled "Wish a Doctor" for this purpose. He trained many students, including Zhang Yinglin, Ma Zhaosheng, Rong, Li Yazhi in Kunshan, Doctor Sima in Wuxi, Shen in Wujiang and Hangzhou, and made certain contributions to medicine.
