Humanistic spirit is about "the understanding of value" and the pursuit of "value" and "goodness", which requires behavior to conform to morality, solves the problem of "good, evil, beauty and ugliness" and answers "what should be done". We often say that to establish a correct world outlook, values and outlook on life, we must have clear meaning, correct goals, social ideals and beliefs, noble, kind, pure and healthy sentiments and spirits, and a true, kind and beautiful attitude towards life. This is the category of humanistic spirit.
Scientific spirit is the unremitting pursuit of truth, and its core is "seeking truth". Humanistic spirit is a universal human self-care, and its core is the pursuit of goodness and beauty. Science and knowledge do not come out of thin air, but from human survival, production and life practice. Science and humanities are not necessarily separated, but they are bound to be opposite. The early days were harmonious and unified.
The rapid development of modern science, modern technology and industry has greatly improved the status of science. The influence of scientific spirit has expanded rapidly and is in full swing. Scientific culture is respected and scientific education is favored. Humanism is dwarfed, its status is reduced, and its influence is weakened. It is from this time that science and humanistic spirit parted ways, and it is from this time that scientism deviated from humanism and began to override humanistic knowledge and became the only embodiment of truth. In the view of scientism, science is the only legitimate knowledge, and it is the knowledge of truth, while art, humanities and even some social science knowledge are unscientific, at most, they are pre-science, and should even be expelled. They both have their own purposes. Humanism emphasizes human irrational factors, while scientism emphasizes human rationality.
However, according to Marx's "dialectical unity of truth and value in practice", we must adhere to the dialectical unity of truth scale and value scale, which requires us to understand the relationship between scientific spirit and humanistic spirit dialectically and uniformly. We can't separate the scientific spirit from the humanistic spirit. First of all, the scientific spirit embodies the pursuit of truth and seeking truth from facts, while the humanistic spirit pursues that people should form correct values and pursue truth, goodness and beauty. Abandon all hypocritical value orientations. Then we can understand the dialectical unity of scientific spirit and humanistic spirit according to the dialectical unity of Marx's truth value. The dialectical unity of truth and value in practice is: 1. Successful practice must be based on the dialectical unity of truth and value. 2. The formation and realization of value is based on upholding truth. 3. Truth and value are mutually restricted in practice and cognitive activities. Guide and promote each other. This shows the dialectical unity of science and humanities. Secondly, if the scientific spirit is separated from the humanistic spirit, the result will be a "hollow man" who only knows technology but has a pale soul, or a "marginal man" who doesn't know technology but talks about humanities. Both of these results will cause people's incomplete development. People go to extremes in the process of understanding and transforming the world, which will inevitably lead to the abnormal development of society. Finally, scientific knowledge is actually a human culture, and scientific spirit is also a human spirit. Without humanistic care, scientism can only be blind and reckless. Without the integration of scientific spirit, humanism can only be lame and illusory. Science, as a kind of seeking truth and seeking truth, cannot solve the problem of its existence by itself. Only under the guidance of humanistic spirit can science be endowed with a good purpose. If science loses the guidance and restriction of humanistic spirit and rejects moral ideal, ultimate concern, cultural value, emotional experience and meaning of life, it will only fall into the quagmire of instrumental rationality and technical utility. So is humanism. If we lose the light of scientific spirit, we can only be vague No matter when and where, the humanistic spirit cannot deviate from the scientific spirit. The objectivity, logical consistency and trial and error contained in the scientific spirit are important forces to promote the progress of human knowledge and the evolution of civilization.
Carrying forward the scientific spirit and humanistic spirit is of great significance to our college students. We are in the period of the formation and development of world outlook and personality, so we should vigorously carry forward the scientific spirit and humanistic spirit and comprehensively improve our own quality.
