American Mathematical Modeling Competition (MCM/ICM) is an international competition and the originator of all kinds of mathematical modeling competitions.

MCM/ICM is the abbreviation of mathematical modeling competition and interdisciplinary modeling competition, namely "mathematical modeling competition" and "interdisciplinary modeling competition". MCM started from 1985, and ICM started from 2000, initiated by COMAP (Mathematics and Its Application Federation) and sponsored by many institutions such as SIAM, NSA and INFORMS. MCM/ICM emphasizes research problems, originality of solutions, teamwork, communication and rationality of results.

The competition consists of three students (undergraduates). Within four days, complete all the work from modeling, solving, verification to paper writing on the specified problems. The competition attracts a large number of famous schools every year. In 2008, MCM/ICM had more than 2,000 teams covering five continents. MCM/ICM has become one of the most famous international college student competitions.
