In recent years, China's expressway construction has developed rapidly. As an important part of expressway construction and development, maintenance management is in a relatively backward stage. Shandong province ranks first in the country in terms of expressway mileage, and the maintenance and management of expressways is more important. As a highway maintenance manager, I talk about my own experience according to my actual work experience. 1 Important role of maintenance management (1) Correctly understand and evaluate the operation status and service level of expressways, arrange maintenance according to the actual situation, and create a smooth, safe, comfortable and beautiful driving environment. (2) Prevent the occurrence of road and facility diseases, timely repair road diseases and facilities damaged at any time, extend the service life of roads and facilities as much as possible, postpone the overhaul cycle and reduce the operation and management costs. (3) timely discover and make up for the congenital deficiency and use defects of roads and their facilities caused by design or other reasons, and gradually form a perfect highway use and service function. (4) Reduce or eliminate the accidental damage to users and users caused by improper maintenance of roads and facilities, and avoid unnecessary legal disputes. 2 Characteristics of Expressway Maintenance (1) Regularity and timeliness of maintenance work. As China's expressways are both national infrastructure and toll roads, it is necessary to keep them intact, repair the damaged parts in time, and ensure safe, stable and comfortable driving, so as to improve the economic and social benefits of operation. Any slack and negligence in maintenance work will not only cause potential harm to roads and their facilities, but also pose a serious life threat to drivers and passengers driving at high speed. (2) Expressway has high traffic density and high speed, and its maintenance is dangerous. (3) Maintain the universality of the object. Besides the roads, bridges and culverts, tunnels and their ancillary facilities along the expressway, the maintenance objects of the expressway should also include traffic engineering facilities, monitoring, communication and lighting facilities, greening, environmental protection and garden facilities, shed and pavilion building facilities and various life service facilities. The maintenance and management of these facilities almost covers the specialties of roads and bridges, architecture, gardens, electromechanical, photoelectric, machinery, computer and so on, forming a comprehensive maintenance system with extensive content, mutual connection and indispensable. (4) Nature, complexity and science and technology of conservation. Highway maintenance standards are higher, the scale and utilization rate of machinery are larger, and the cost is higher. At the same time, the construction process is complicated, so it is necessary to constantly explore and popularize new materials, new equipment, new processes and new technologies. Principles and criteria of expressway maintenance: Expressway maintenance must be based on the principle of "prevention first, combining prevention with control" and adhere to the principle of "mechanized maintenance first, preventing traffic interruption". At the same time, the maintenance technical measures should follow the principle of "investigation, scientific and technological innovation and coordinated development". Purpose and main tasks: take correct and effective technical measures to improve the quality of highway use, prolong the service life of highway, and keep the highway and facilities along the line intact. Repair the damaged road property in time to realize safe, comfortable and smooth driving, thus improving the operational and social benefits of the highway. 5. Problems existing in the current expressway maintenance management (1) The level of maintenance informatization and mechanization is low. (2) The overall quality of employees does not meet the requirements of scientific and modern expressway maintenance. The professional technical level of maintenance managers is generally low, and the proportion of technicians engaged in maintenance is generally less than 30%. Poor ability to master new materials, new technologies and new processes directly affects the quality and level of maintenance. (3) Lack of research and understanding on the overall maintenance management of expressways. (4) The standard construction is not perfect. At present, there is no unified maintenance management method, technical specification and quality evaluation standard, which makes the specific work content and standards inconsistent. (5) The internal system construction is not perfect. The internal relationship is not straightened out, the work efficiency is low, and the unit lacks vitality and competitiveness, which affects the overall level of maintenance work. In view of the problems existing in maintenance management, in order to make the expressway give full play to its due economic and social benefits, the following important tasks should be done in the future: (1) Increase capital investment, comprehensively improve the informatization and mechanization level of maintenance management, rationally use information management systems and maintain machinery and equipment in work, and improve work efficiency. (2) Improve the quality of maintenance workers and establish a high-quality and high-level maintenance team. Through the education and training of employees, maintenance personnel can learn, increase their professional and technical knowledge and sense of responsibility, and meet the needs of expressway maintenance personnel. (3) Learn more and summarize more in daily maintenance work, master the systematic and comprehensive maintenance status in practical work, and provide powerful information support for maintenance work. (4) Formulate and improve the norms and measures of expressway maintenance management as soon as possible to make the maintenance management scientific and standardized. (5) Strengthen the internal reform of the maintenance system, straighten out the relationship and improve work efficiency. In short, the development of expressways must adhere to the principle of paying equal attention to construction, management and maintenance, and normal maintenance management cannot be relaxed just because of high grade and good quality. Practice has proved that only scientific and strict maintenance management can improve the operation quality and economic benefits of expressways.
