Opportunities and challenges faced by nursing specialty in the era of big data
In the era of big data, how nurses adapt to the development of the times, seize opportunities and improve the level of nursing disciplines is also a problem worthy of consideration by domestic nursing colleagues.

The era of big data has arrived. With the vigorous development of big data technology and application, the quantity and value of big data are rising rapidly. In addition to the rich value contained in data resources, metadata resources can create greater economic and social value through mining and analysis. Big data will accelerate the penetration of new technologies from the Internet to a wider range of fields, radiating to all walks of life, and nursing is no exception!

To provide better nursing services for patients, first of all, nursing managers need to better understand big data. Many clinical departments, financial departments and complaint systems in hospitals have complex information technology systems. It is a challenge to integrate, analyze and utilize big data. It is very necessary to get the right information at the right time to support clinical decision-making and provide timely and accurate care for patients. The application of big data technology can help nurses and other medical workers improve service quality, improve patient efficacy and reduce medical costs.

So, how should nurses use big data? No matter what kind of medical place, the best clinical decision of nurses depends on correct and real-time data information, which must be presented in a standard and structured way and can be appreciated and compared. At present, inconsistent data standardization methods and different nursing terms are still the key to hinder nursing information and digital enjoyment. Limited cross-system interactivity leads to the lack of compatibility and comparability of nursing big data. In order to guide the nursing discipline to obtain and use big data better, the working group on big data principles of medical and health information and management system put forward the following suggestions.

1. In all medical places, nurses should promote the use of standardized nursing terms in nursing records. Medical service providers should make plans to gradually transition to the use of national standard nursing terms recommended by the American Nurses Association (systematic D nomenclature of medical-clinical terms).

2. Nurses should recommend and insist on using research-based assessment scales and internationally recognized tools.

3. The American Nurses Association is aware that nursing terminology should be constantly updated and consistent with the standard terminology of international institutions.

4. Medical institutions should attach importance to and train nursing information experts, so that they can provide valuable ideas in the concept, design, implementation and optimization of health information technology, and support evidence-based nursing practice, education and research.

5. In order to achieve the expected effect, nursing information experts should receive formal training, education and qualification certification in nursing informatics.

Understanding the principle of big data and the obstacles, opportunities and challenges it faces can help us to obtain shared and comparable nursing big data and help nursing experts in various professional fields to carry out nursing practice, education and scientific research. Nurses must establish the awareness of big data and take this opportunity to jointly promote the development of nursing discipline.
