The defense is mandatory. You don't have to be nervous about it. Tell the teacher what you did, what you did and how you did it. Then tell the teacher modestly, that's all, or that's all you know. Ask the teacher for guidance, or welcome it. I don't understand the content of your department, and the process is the same.
