Early experience
Li liked mathematics since he was a child, and 1950 was admitted to the Mathematics Department of Nanjing University. 1952 transferred to the Institute of Mathematics, China Academy of Sciences, and studied under the famous mathematician Hua. From 65438 to 0956, Li got a master's degree and stayed on as a teacher.
school achievement
Li's academic achievements are outstanding. He has made many important contributions in the fields of algebraic topology, differential geometry and nonlinear functional analysis. 1960 published the paper Algebraic Structure of Homology Groups in Topological Space, which became a classic in the field of algebraic topology. 1963, he reported a paper entitled "Some Problems in Algebraic Topology" at the International Congress of Mathematicians, which was highly praised by the international mathematical community. From 65438 to the early 1970s, he made a series of pioneering work in the field of differential geometry and became one of the most influential differential geometry scholars in the world.
Honor and reward
Li has won many honors and awards, such as the National Natural Science Award, the Fields Award of the International Mathematical Federation, the Cox Award of the American Mathematical Society, and the foreign academician of the French Academy of Sciences. He is also a foreign academician of many internationally renowned scientific organizations, such as the National Academy of Sciences, the Russian Academy of Sciences and the Royal Society.
Life after retirement
In 2000, Li officially retired. After retirement, he is still active in academia and continues to make contributions to the cause of mathematics. Besides, he is also keen on literature, music and Go, and he is a versatile comprehensive talents.
