At that time, the main producing areas of tea were in the areas of Hengjian, Daibu and Pingqiao in Nanshan. After 1949, Liyang tea experienced three main development periods. In the first stage, at the end of 1950s, the state established two state-owned tea gardens in Liyang, which expanded to 8583 mu with an annual output of 50.56 tons. In the second stage, from the late 1970s to the early 1980s, the rural areas and village collective tea farms in the county developed greatly. The tea garden in the county has exceeded 20,000 mu, reaching 20,730 mu, with an annual output of more than 1000 tons, which is 1 096.65 tons. 199 1 in the third stage, with the adjustment of rural industrial structure and the further development of hilly and mountainous areas, especially the Liyang Municipal Party Committee and Municipal Government successfully held the 9th China Liyang Tea Festival, which greatly promoted the development of Liyang tea. The area of tea gardens in the city has increased to 70,000 mu, and the highest annual output of tea has reached 202 1.75 tons, with an output value exceeding 100 million yuan.

With the further adjustment of rural industrial structure and the optimization of agricultural resources, great changes have taken place in the management system, production mode, product structure and sales channels of Liyang tea. Except Shezhu and Zhuze farms are state-owned and Guilin tea farms are contracted by collective risks, the rest tea farms are mainly operated by individual economy, forming a one-stop production and sales mechanism of fresh leaf production, tea processing and sales. Tea produced includes not only traditional famous teas Biluochun and Mao Feng, but also a large number of roasted green tea, black broken tea and famous teas with local characteristics, such as Qianfeng Xuelian, Nanshan Shoumei, Shuixi Bai Cui, Shahe Guiming and Taihu Baiyun, as well as steamed green tea, oolong tea and white tea.
