What is EDA?
EDA is the abbreviation of Electronic Design Automation, which developed from the concepts of computer-aided design (CAD), computer-aided manufacturing (CAM), computer-aided testing (CAT) and computer-aided engineering (CAE) in the mid-1960s. In the 1990s, countries with advanced electronic and computer technology in the world were actively exploring new electronic circuit design methods, and made radical changes in design methods and tools, and achieved great success. In the field of electronic technology design, programmable logic devices (such as CPLD and FPGA) have been widely used, which brings great flexibility to the design of digital systems. These devices can reconstruct their hardware structure and working mode through software programming, so that hardware design can be as convenient and fast as software design. All these have greatly changed the traditional digital system design method, design process and design concept, and promoted the rapid development of EDA technology. EDA technology uses computers as tools. On the EDA software platform, designers use the hardware description language VHDL to complete the design files, and then the computer automatically completes the logic compilation, simplification, segmentation, synthesis, optimization, layout, routing and simulation until the adaptive compilation, logic mapping and programming download for a specific target chip. The emergence of EDA technology greatly improves the efficiency and operability of circuit design and reduces the labor intensity of designers. Using EDA tools, electronic designers can design electronic systems from concepts, algorithms and protocols. A lot of work can be done by computer, and the whole process of electronic products from circuit design and performance analysis to ic layout or PCB layout can be automatically processed by computer. Now the concept or category of EDA is widely used. Including machinery, electronics, communications, aerospace, chemical industry, minerals, biology, medicine, military and other fields, EDA has been applied. At present, EDA technology has been widely used in major companies, enterprises and institutions and scientific research and teaching departments. For example, the process of aircraft manufacturing, from design, performance testing, characteristic analysis to flight simulation, may involve EDA technology. The concept of EDA technology EDA technology refers to the automatic design of electronic products based on computers and the latest achievements of electronic technology, computer technology, information processing and intelligent technology.
