The important role of classical poetry in contemporary people's spiritual life and contemporary cultural construction is fundamentally determined by its great ideological value and unparalleled artistic value. Almost any nation in the world, any language, has their poems, but different nationalities, different degrees of development of poetry, poetry in the spiritual life of different nationalities have different proportions. Poetry of many nationalities in the world has been in the primitive and natural development stage for a long time, and the truly highly developed poetry art is based on highly developed culture. Of course, the development of culture does not necessarily promote the development of poetry, there must be cultural factors suitable for poetry. From this point of view, our ancient culture in China is extremely rich in factors suitable for the development of poetry. For example, the worship of ritual and music civilization, the prosperity of landscape aesthetic activities, the civil service system and the imperial examination system are all important factors to promote the long-term prosperity and high development of poetry. The early achievements of China's poetry are brilliant. The three systems of the Book of Songs, Chu Ci and Han Yuefu Poems are the source and mother of later literati poems. Wei and Jin Dynasties witnessed a period of highly conscious development of literati poetry. From that time to modern times, the poetry system with literati as the main body has been developing continuously. Its long history, numerous poets and profound influence on the whole social culture are really rare in the world. The classical poetry art created in this way has high aesthetic value and naturally does not need to be demonstrated. Since cultural history and literary history are inseparable, the importance of poetry as the essence of China traditional culture in contemporary people's spiritual life is naturally indisputable. Although, since the May 4th Movement, there has been the creation of new poetry, and its achievements are brilliant, but for more people, even among intellectuals, classical poetry still occupies a major position in people's poetry appreciation, Tao Qing governance and even social interaction. In a more popular way, that is to say, contemporary people still have a high demand for classical poetry.

Another aspect of the important relationship between classical poetry and contemporary people is the poetry creation activities of contemporary people. After the May 4th New Culture Movement, new poetry rose, and poetry creation in the 20th century was dominated by new poetry. But throughout the 20th century, poetry and even Qufu's creation continued. At the beginning of the 20th century, some poetic schools, such as Tongguang Style and Late Tang Style, with old literati as the main body, were still very active in creation. Among the later intellectuals, there are still many people who are good at poetry writing, and there are also some poetry creation groups. I think there are at least three important groups of old-style poetry creation, namely, literati, professional revolutionaries and new writers, and a large number of important poets have emerged. Their knowledge background, cultural concept and ideology are different, but they are all baptized by the May 4th Cultural Movement to varying degrees. Therefore, the 20th century poetry is not simply imitation and retro, but adds a lot of modern spirit. Of course, poetry creation in the 20th century has its ups and downs, and sometimes it goes downhill. Cultural policies and literary concepts have some factors that are not conducive to the development of poetry. In the past 20 years, judging from the number of writers, works, frequent poetry activities and numerous publications, there is a revival trend, especially among young students, the attraction of old-style poetry is increasing day by day. Poetry is the muse of youth, and young people always have a natural desire to love poetry and try to create. Among them, the increase in the writing of old-style poems shows that contemporary people are inextricably related to classical poetry. More importantly, contemporary people inherit the traditional concept of poetry, and use poetry to chant emotions and penetrate reality, so that contemporary poetry still has important functions in expressing contemporary people's emotions and thoughts and reflecting contemporary life. The emergence of new poetry is undoubtedly a profound revolution in the ancient poetry country and a renewal of cultural spirit. However, old-style poetry has the value of coexistence with new poetry, and even can complement each other in aesthetic and expressive functions. Therefore, in my opinion, in the field of poetry and academia, there is an urgent need to establish a new concept of poetry that is tolerant and generous, pays equal attention to the old and new styles, and is conducive to the development of new poetry and old poetry, so as to create the glory of China's national poetry again.
