History of varicella vaccine
In 1974, Japanese Gao Qiao isolated VZV from the blister fluid of a boy with natural chickenpox, and attenuated it by continuous propagation in the cultures of human embryonic lung cells, guinea pig embryonic cells and human diploid cells (WI-38).

The virus was further subcultured by human diploid cell culture (MCR-5) and a vaccine strain (Oka strain) was established, which is widely used in the world today.

From 265438 to the beginning of the 20th century, Beijing, Shanghai and Changchun Institute of Biological Products successively developed freeze-dried varicella vaccine.

Comparison between domestic and imported products;

The virus titer of imported vaccine is kept at 10000pfu, and that of domestic vaccine is kept at 2000pfu.

Imported vaccine 1984 is listed in Europe, and it is also the earliest varicella vaccine in the world. It has been used in more than 100 countries around the world, and has a large number of academic papers and clinical follow-up data, and has more than 22 years of safe and effective use experience. It entered China in 1998, and made great contribution to the prevention of chickenpox in China. The price was 282 yuan at that time.

There are four domestic suppliers of varicella vaccine, namely Changchun Qijian, Shanghai Institute, Changchun Encyclopedia and Changchun Changsheng. At present, the market share from high to low is Changchun Qijian, Changchun Encyclopedia, Changchun Changsheng and Shanghai Institute.

Among them, Changchun Qijian is the first listed varicella vaccine manufacturer in China and the earliest supplier of varicella vaccine exported in China, and its market share has always remained the first. At present, the post-immunization re-evaluation of varicella vaccine has been carried out for more than 6 years. The results show that the immunization effect is good, the vaccine quality is stable and there are few adverse reactions.
