What is the material for making mold model by silica sol casting?
Silica sol casting is also called investment precision casting. It is a casting process with little or no cutting. It is an excellent technology in the casting industry and is widely used. It is not only suitable for casting of various types and alloys, but also produces castings with higher dimensional accuracy and surface quality than other casting methods. Even castings that are difficult to cast by other casting methods, complex, heat-resistant and difficult to process, can be cast by investment casting.

Because the precision casting mold is used to press wax parts, the hardness of the mold itself is not high, and the material of the mold can be selected according to the precision and complexity of the casting.

If the shape is relatively simple, the product size is not very large, and the product requires high dimensional accuracy, profile (such as Q235) or cast steel (such as ZG270~500) can be preferred for processing. The advantage of using steel die is that the material is cheap, but the disadvantage is that the die is large in size and has certain requirements for processing tools. Some manual operations are difficult;

If the shape is complex, the precision is high and the product size is large, cast aluminum (such as ZL20 1) can be considered. Compared with steel molds, aluminum molds have the advantages of light weight and low requirements for tools for processing molds. Of course, the material cost is slightly higher.

If it is a product with complex shape, the size of the casting itself is not very large, and the precision requirement is not very high, aluminum frame tin bismuth can be considered as the mold. The weight of the tin-bismuth mold is relatively heavy, because it contains bismuth, but for the complicated mold, the manufacturing time is short, which saves the processing cost.
