This survey is the sixth global survey of China's national image conducted by the Institute of Contemporary China and the World in cooperation with Kaidu Group. The survey was conducted simultaneously in 22 countries around the world, and a total of 1. 1 10,000 people participated in the survey.

Compared with the past, this survey has added some hot topics, such as the unification of human destiny and the 40th anniversary of reform and opening up, covering the overall image and influence of China, the international image and communication in politics, diplomacy, economy, culture, science and technology, etc.

The survey shows that the overall image of China remains stable, and its internal affairs and diplomacy are widely praised. In 20 18, the overall impression of overseas respondents on China was 6.2 points (10 points), which continued the slightly steady upward trend in recent years. Overseas developing countries still have a better impression of China than developed countries, with an increase of 0.2 points this year, showing an upward trend year by year.

China scored 6.4 points in global governance and 6.3 points in domestic governance. Respondents from developing countries rated China's global governance contribution and domestic governance performance higher than the overall level.

Overseas respondents believe that China's reform and opening up has been successful and played a positive role in global development. Among the overseas interviewees who know about the reform and opening up, 62% agree that the reform and opening up has not only profoundly changed China, but also profoundly affected the world.

74% respondents from developing countries recognized the successful significance of China's reform and opening up. Many interviewees believe that China's reform and opening up has had a positive impact on the world, made great contributions to world peace and development, and contributed China's plan and China's wisdom to the world.

Among the areas in which China participates in global governance, science and technology (63%), economy (60%) and culture (53%) are the three most recognized areas by overseas respondents, with the recognition rate exceeding 50%. Among China's scientific and technological achievements, high-speed rail technology has the highest recognition overseas, followed by supercomputers and manned space technology.

Compared with the 20 17 survey, overseas respondents' expectations of China's future participation in various fields of global governance have increased. About 60% of overseas respondents believe that the concept of "the same fate of mankind" is of positive significance to individual, national and global governance. Among them, overseas respondents agree that "human beings share the same destiny" has the highest proportion of positive significance to global governance, reaching 62%. Comparatively speaking, respondents from overseas developing countries agree that this concept has positive significance.

Recognize the positive significance of the "Belt and Road Initiative" to the regional and global economy. According to the survey, respondents from overseas developing countries recognize the positive significance of the Belt and Road Initiative to individuals, countries, regions and the global economy. Overseas respondents' overall awareness of the "Belt and Road Initiative" reached 20%, and India, Japan, Italy and other countries reached 40% and above.
