How to deal with the teaching reform of science curriculum in rural primary schools and how to cultivate and improve students' scientific literacy is a subject of great research value. Closely combined with the reality of our school, our school has carried out the practice and research of cultivating students' scientific literacy in rural primary schools from the perspectives of classroom teaching, popular science activities, school-based textbooks and investigation activities in three years since 2003. Since the research, the teachers of the research group have earnestly studied the theory of education and teaching, actively participated in the new curriculum training, carried out classroom teaching and discussion activities, and guided students to carry out colorful scientific inquiry activities, so that students can experience and really explore activities. Through research, we will further promote the reform of classroom teaching methods. After three years of research, the project has achieved good results, high operability and popularization value, and has been highly praised by the Central Institute of Education. The research results of this topic play an important role in cultivating students' scientific literacy. In June 2006, the project won the first prize of the second educational science research project in Nanhai District.
Second, the construction of scientific practice base
In order to better promote quality education and give students more opportunities to participate in study and practice, our school invested more than 90,000 yuan to build the "Shishan No.1 Science and Technology Park" covering an area of 14 mu. Third, carry out scientific and technological production activities

The teacher of the science group compiled a book "Campus Plants and Environment Exploration" as a school-based textbook, which was used by everyone in grades three, four, five and six. Based on fruit trees and Chinese herbal medicines on campus, this book records and introduces in detail the growth characteristics and medicinal properties of more than 1000 Chinese herbal medicines, the methods of making plant specimens and interesting stories about plants, so as to guide students to learn the knowledge of protecting plants and the environment and participate in environmental protection activities. This book has become a good local textbook for primary schools to study, explore, apply and protect Chinese herbal medicines and carry out environmental protection activities.
Seven, do a good job in the construction of scientific laboratories and instrument rooms.
Our school attaches importance to the construction of laboratories and experimental instrument rooms. In recent years, although the school is short of funds, it has purchased a certain number of scientific experimental supplies and instruments, and the new teaching materials have complete experimental equipment, which provides good conditions for science teaching and better guarantee for science classroom teaching. Science is a subject based on experiments. In science experiment class, teachers make full use of experimental equipment and design creative experiments, so that every student can do every experiment carefully and improve students' exploration of science class.
Eight, carry out classroom teaching research, sum up experience.
In the past three years, we have carried out classroom teaching research activities. There are scientific research classes every semester, which have achieved good results. The model of "observation-experiment-discussion-application" in science classroom teaching is constructed, which highlights students' subjectivity, participation and independent inquiry, and plays a good role in promoting students' innovative thinking and practical ability. This model has been affirmed in the first educational and scientific research achievement of Nanhai District, The Cultivation of Middle School Students' Practical Ability of Nature Teaching. According to the scientific teaching design designed by this model, our science teacher won three first prizes and two second prizes in Nanhai District Competition, two first prizes in video class and two second prizes in lecture 1 section.
