Introduction of transgenic tomato
Transgenic tomato is a kind of genetically modified food, which contains some anticancer substances. Tomato is a worldwide vegetable, which plays an important role in vegetable production and is also an important object and model plant in basic biology research. Among all vegetable crops, the research literature of tomato ranks first. The research and application of transgenic tomato have developed rapidly because of its in-depth research and easy transformation. With the maturity and development of transgenic technology, more and more transgenic tomatoes have been successfully developed and gradually moved towards the stage of industrialization. In this paper, the research and industrialization of transgenic tomato were reviewed, which provided important basic data for further study of transgenic tomato and theoretical basis for management and research of transgenic tomato. Storage-resistant transgenic tomato is one of the earliest transgenic crops approved for commercial planting in the world. By the end of 20 1 1, 6 cases of transgenic tomatoes had been approved for commercial planting abroad, including 5 cases of delayed (storable) tomatoes and 1 case of insect-resistant tomatoes. China approved 3 cases of storage-resistant and 1 case of virus-resistant transgenic tomatoes, but none of them were commercialized on a large scale.
