Undoubtedly, this sociological paper focuses on the fate of rural areas in China! Because I seem to have been dealing with "farmers" since I was an adult. In fact, I am not a child in the countryside. Although my parents came out from the countryside to work hard, my family moved back to the countryside, and now I still make a living by farming. My undergraduate course also entered the rural regional development major of China Agricultural University, and then I had a lot of rural practice. However, during the whole growing period of I 16, I almost never stayed in the countryside, never worked in the agricultural sector, and never experienced villagers in the countryside, so farmers, countryside, agriculture (and animal husbandry, which are very different from agriculture) have a strange fate with me: on the one hand, they are extremely close to me, and even an important label for me; On the other hand, we have a natural psychological gap. This contradictory combination gives me a suitable distance to study the rural problems in China: I will not despise farmers and agriculture, because I am one of them; But they have no natural sympathy and affection for farmers and the countryside, so they don't want to believe the fact that the countryside has disappeared.
This kind of marginalization is not rare among researchers, among which the famous representative is Said, an oriental scholar, who has doubts about his identity because of his multiple identities, and thus began his own research road. In my opinion, every researcher's ultimate concern is to try to explore fate, which may of course be the fate of others or his own. The difference between the two is whether you belong to one of the research groups or whether you are outside them. For the rural areas in China that I have observed, I am both: what belongs to them is my past represented by my parents; What frees me from it is the future that I will start with a new identity. Although there are still many variables in my future, it is difficult for me to have the opportunity to return to the countryside in any case. As I wrote in my paper, even if I go back to be a "reconstructor" in the countryside, what I serve may still be a virtual image.
More than one year's work experience and three years' postgraduate life after graduation have changed me a lot. My work experience is mainly involved in some agricultural planning projects. I made this work with enthusiasm for the countryside, but what I saw was the completely different attitudes of all subjects, and the image of the countryside became fragmented for me. The life of graduate students has temporarily left the rural issues that I have been paying attention to for several years, and it has also made me see more people and more attitudes, repositioning the position of the countryside in my world. At the same time, there is a living rural image around me for me to observe. This is my father. For many years, we have been in contact by SMS (recently learned WeChat). He told me about people and things in his hometown and his thoughts, which became a window for me to observe the countryside continuously. It can be said that these years have allowed me to have a suitable distance from the rural theme and let me rethink what I have learned and experienced in the past.
My research site, Zhaizi Village, came into contact by chance, which was completely new to me, so my observation was short and hasty. This has both advantages and disadvantages: the advantage is that we will not be emotionally biased against strange things; The disadvantage is that the research is difficult and the knowledge is very limited and shallow. Fortunately, regarding its old history, the village has compiled a book "The Records of Zhaizi Village", which was written by the memories and dictation of people over 70 years old in the 1990s. The materials in it are extremely rich, which greatly reduces the difficulty of my investigation. As for the cooperative organization "Puhan", there have been many studies, and comparison with each other can form rich materials. Coupled with my personal relationship with the local people in the research area, I can understand their attitudes and feelings about the events in the existing materials, which can basically support my research framework.
I chose Tonnis's theory as an observation perspective, and I would like to thank my mentor here. She recommended this book to me very early after the first year of high school, and I have never been exposed to his theory before. Tonnis believes that society will erode the same body and destroy it, and its theoretical basis lies in the relationship between the will of choice and the essential will. This phenomenon can also be explained by Marx's alienation of human beings and Weber's rationalization of actions, but Marx pays more attention to the relationship between foreign objects and people, and Weber pays more attention to the significance of actions. This deliberate effort to analyze social phenomena from the macro level (Weber may be in the middle view) distinguishes sociology from psychological philosophy on the one hand, and is bound to be profound on the other. I think this is the uniqueness of Tonnis's "same body and the same society".
First of all, I would like to thank my tutor, Associate Professor Wang Xiaoli, for the completion of this paper today. As an exchange object, she and I continued to discuss the form and theme of the paper many times, and our cooperation made it become what it is now. Moreover, she is always good at encouraging students and doesn't give me too much pressure, which makes my writing a lot easier. The relationship between teachers and students is not as close as before. I think we keep a good distance, so we can be teachers' friends. Secondly, I want to thank my teacher, Professor Hu, from the Agricultural College of China Agricultural University. On the one hand, we have been together for nearly four or five years. He taught me a lot, and I learned a lot of agricultural knowledge and views from him. On the other hand, I was introduced to Puhan and Zhaizi Village because of him. He intends to retire this year. I wish him to start theoretical research after leaving school affairs and break through the theoretical height of middle age. Finally, I want to thank the staff in the "Puhan" cooperation organization. Their kindness and enthusiasm make me feel very comfortable in the village, and we can sincerely think about the future of the organization together. Although the final conclusion may be completely contrary to their views, I am glad that I am providing some "harsh" voices on the premise of understanding them, rather than making trouble without reason. Of course, I should thank my parents, including my mother, who seldom contact me on weekdays. Because I have the deepest belief and affirmation, I should keep in touch with them from time to time, regardless of the form.
Three years passed quickly, and finally I finished my primary goal-completing my graduation thesis. It turns out that the goal of my senior year is to continue my doctoral studies. Unfortunately, after three years of laziness, I finally failed to keep this ambition, so my 27-year-old master's degree became the end of my 20-year study career. Nine-year university is coming to an end, a new life is about to begin, and I am almost 30 years old. I look forward to doing better in my new role and position.
