1952- 1954 participated in the research and plant construction of extracting thorium and mixed rare earth from monazite, and the thorium obtained met the needs of catalyst for petroleum synthesis in Jinzhou No.6 Petroleum Plant. 1954- 1955 an intermediate plant for extracting vanadium pentoxide from vanadium-bearing slag was established, and the whole set of equipment was handed over to the plant. 1958 organized and participated in the establishment of an intermediate plant for extracting and separating mixed rare earths from monazite and Baotou rare earth tailings, studied and integrated separation methods such as fractional precipitation, fractional crystallization, redox, ion exchange and solvent extraction, and obtained all single pure rare earths except promethium (Pm). During 1952- 1962, the wet air oxidation method of industrial cerium and the principle and extraction method of separating yttrium by using the position change of yttrium were put forward, and the process of separating rare earth was put forward. At the same time, the research on solution chemistry such as rare earth coordination chemistry and extraction chemistry was carried out.

In 1970s, he organized and participated in the development of Nd-doped yttrium aluminate laser crystal for gun laser ranging. The extraction, separation, analysis and application of the above-mentioned rare earths won the 1978 National Science Conference Award. A simple and safe method for reducing samarium, europium, ytterbium and thulium (Sm, Eu, Yb, Tm) in some borate, phosphate and borophosphate luminescent materials in air is proposed. In order to develop the application of dysprosium (Dy) and gadolinium (Gd), which are unique to Guangdong and Jiangxi in China, dysprosium (Dy) was developed in cooperation with South Korea and passed the identification. In recent years, a new type of dysprosium (Dy)-doped rare earth long afterglow luminescent materials has been developed by a new synthesis method, and rare earth luminescent materials with high brightness and long afterglow time have been obtained. 1990 published English anthology (rare earth spectrum) by Singapore World Science Press, 1993 published monograph by Henan Science and Technology Press, 1994 edited anthology of the conference. Published more than 250 academic papers at home and abroad.
