The Philosophy Department of Fudan University was formally established on 1956, which is one of the earliest philosophy departments established in universities across the country after the founding of the People's Republic of China. At present, there are 2 undergraduate majors, 7 master's programs, 4 doctoral programs and 1 postdoctoral mobile station, among which western philosophy is listed as "21/engineering" and 1995 is approved as a key discipline in Shanghai. 1994 was approved as the first batch of national talent training and scientific research bases for the basic disciplines of liberal arts, and 1998 was approved as the postdoctoral mobile station for philosophy. Philosophy major

"Philosophy is the essence of the spirit of the times", which is a basic discipline in the field of humanities and has the oldest tradition in the human knowledge system. It explores the fundamental relationship between man and the world around him, reflects on the deep motivation of human civilization, studies the fate and prospect of national culture, and thinks about the basic nature of contemporary human problems and the prospect of human development. Philosophy majors train theoretical workers who are familiar with the history of Chinese and western thoughts and have rich theoretical thinking ability, as well as cultural propaganda and administrative senior talents who are good at integrating theory with practice, analyzing and solving practical problems. Since the 1990s, the Department of Philosophy has devoted itself to perfecting courses, laying a solid foundation and making constant innovations. The new curriculum covers all levels of undergraduate, master and doctor. Some of them are to strengthen students' foundation, such as learning various Marxist philosophy, western philosophy and China philosophy classics, and more of them are close to the needs of the times and social development.

The School of Philosophy of China Renmin University (formerly the Department of Religion of Philosophy) has three undergraduate majors: philosophy, ethics and religion, and eight master's and doctoral majors: Marxist philosophy, China philosophy, foreign philosophy, ethics, philosophy of science and technology, logic, aesthetics and religion. Recruit senior visiting scholars, foreign students and students from Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan. It is an important town for philosophy teaching, scientific research and training senior talents in China, and has trained a large number of philosophy research and education talents for the country. He has served as a member of the philosophy evaluation group of the State Council Academic Degrees Committee for four times (Professor Xiao Qian, Professor Luo, Professor Liu Jiaoshou), and now he has twice (Professor Liu Jiaoshou and Professor Jiao Guocheng); Three people have served as members of the Steering Committee of Philosophy Teaching of the Ministry of Education (Luo, Professor and Liu Jiaoshou), and Liu Jiaoshou is currently the vice chairman; Twenty-six people have served as the president (chairman), vice president (vice chairman), secretary general and deputy secretary general of the National Philosophical Society.
