The Institute of Continental Dynamics and Resource Engineering of Peking University College of Earth and Space Sciences is a national science training base, and now it has disciplines such as structural geology, disaster and environmental geology, resource engineering geology, petrophysics, information geology and so on, among which structural geology is a national key discipline. With abundant teachers, perfect teaching environment, advanced experimental equipment, rich scientific research achievements and free academic atmosphere, it is an ideal place for talent growth.

After long-term unremitting efforts, a team of young and middle-aged teachers with famous scholars at home and abroad as academic leaders and doctors as the backbone has been formed. At present, there are professors 1 1 (including doctoral supervisors) and 4 associate professors. In recent five years, he has published papers included in SCI in internationally renowned academic journals such as Science, Geology, JGR and JSG, and published academic papers and monographs in domestic core journals, and won provincial and ministerial awards 14. He has hosted many large-scale international academic conferences, conducted cooperative research with MIT, University of California, University of Mainz, University of Munich, Waseda University, Australian National University, University of Melbourne, Moscow University and other world-renowned universities 10, and exchanged visits, hosted and participated in three IGCP international cooperation projects, one of the key projects of the National Natural Science Foundation of China 1, and 6544 of the National 863 Project.

In order to ensure the training of high-level talents and support students' further study, the Geological Scholarship and the Ding Dong Scholarship are established. Those who perform well in all aspects can also get various scholarships from the school, ranging in intensity from 1 1,000-5,000 yuan, up to 1 1,000 yuan, and the winning proportion is generally above 30%. For outstanding graduates who wish to further their studies, they can directly study for master's or doctoral degrees through exemption recommendation, continuous study and early study, and the number is generally more than 50% of the number of fresh graduates.

2. Examination subjects

Four subjects: English, politics, advanced mathematics and geology, petrology.

Fundamentals of advanced mathematics and geology: two-in-one examination paper. The proposition of Peking University. Advanced mathematics accounts for 75 points, and geological basis accounts for 75 points.

Petrology: three-in-one examination paper. Sedimentary rocks, magmatic rocks and metamorphic rocks are all involved. Two kinds of questions: noun explanation and question and answer.

On the scope of specialized courses:

There are still many metamorphic rocks in the petrology examination paper of Peking University, and most students in petroleum colleges have not learned metamorphic rocks well, so this is a big loophole that needs to be filled. At present, it seems that only the petrology of Peking University, Tianjin University and Chinese Academy of Sciences has investigated metamorphic rocks. The Petrology Examination of Nanjing University does not include metamorphic rocks. I also read the papers of various research and recruitment units, and the most difficult investigation of metamorphic rocks is Peking University. Compared with Nanjing University, the mineralogy, petrology and deposit science of Peking University have taken more advanced mathematics and metamorphic rocks, so the investigation of Peking University is more comprehensive. Of course, this major of NTU is not easy to test, and they have all passed the professional courses.

Metamorphic rocks have a lot to remember. I think if there is not enough time, we should focus on mastering other series of metamorphic rocks except argillaceous series, just remember the noun explanation. Personally, I feel that argillaceous series is the most important, followed by basic series. Regional metamorphic rocks are the most important, followed by contact metamorphic rocks. As for impact metamorphism and hydrothermal metamorphism, I personally think that it is enough to know about it, mainly to be alert to the interpretation of terms, and they will not cause big problems. When remembering the mineral assemblage and metamorphic reaction of each metamorphic phase, it feels worse than remembering metamorphic belt!

note:

Mineralogy, petrology, deposit science, petrology,

Petrology can also choose structural geology, paleontology and stratigraphy.

3. Bibliographic introduction

Main books:

Petrology, edited by Lv Fengxiang and Sang Longkang, Geological Publishing House, 2002.

(Edited by China Geo University, it is basically a textbook for students majoring in geology in key universities at present. )

Key reference books, I think these books should also be prepared:

4. Continuing education or employment introduction

There are very few undergraduates in Peking University who want to take the postgraduate entrance examination.

Among the master graduates: go to other research institutes to study PhD; Studying abroad; Employment.

Employment unit: petroleum graduates can go to research institutes, foreign companies and oil fields to study. State-owned enterprises are mainly PetroChina, Sinopec and CNOOC, while foreign enterprises are mainly Shell and Schlumberger.

Doctoral graduates: teaching in universities, research institutes, oil fields and other units.

Review guidance for specialized courses

1. Instructions for use of review materials: examination bibliography and real questions.

Find the test sites and key points by looking at the real questions, and then go back to reading in a targeted way!

If possible, you can ask your classmates from Peking University to collect their courseware.

If you have time, at least read the exam bibliography carefully. Because although the repetition rate of examination questions is very high every year, it is basically kept at 150. About 100 of the papers have been tested in the past, but about 50 points are new every year. Therefore, the purpose of studying the real questions in previous years is to keep the existing 100 points, while the purpose of intensive reading is to strive for the unknown 50 points!

You don't have to read all the reference books, mainly with questions! Summarize the main points of transcription while watching.

2. The phased review method guide:

Look at the real question → find the test center → turn over the teaching materials to find the answer → summarize and concise → recite the memory!

Understand first, then summarize, then remember!

In the early stage, it is mainly to understand and summarize, and in the later stage, it is mainly to strengthen memory.

Blind reading without understanding the test center will lead to inefficiency and futility!
