Open the data in spss, and then open: analysis-descriptive-crosstab, and open the crosstab dialog box. Put the gender in the list of rows and the selection variables of reading materials in the columns, thus forming a crosstab. Set the output results and click Statistics to open a new dialog box. Check chi-square, check sV SV of phiandcramer, and then click Continue to return to the crosstab dialog box. Click a cell to set the data to be displayed in the cell. Check the number of cells observed here, check the row, and then click Continue to return to the Crosstab dialog box. Click OK to output the inspection results. The first table you see is a cross table, with rows for gender and columns for reading.
