Personally, I think the employment of image processing is still good. First of all, images can be regarded as two-dimensional, three-dimensional or higher-dimensional signals. In this sense, image processing is the best employment situation in the whole signal processing, because you should master not only the basic knowledge of (one-dimensional) signal processing, but also the knowledge of image processing (two-dimensional or high-dimensional signal processing). Secondly, image processing is the basis of computer vision and video processing. If you master the basic knowledge of image processing, you can develop in these directions when you are employed. At present, most of the pattern recognition is also image pattern recognition. In practical applications, most of the collected information is image information, such as fingerprints, bar codes, faces, irises, vehicles and so on. When it comes to applications, don't forget medical images. If you have a background in medical image processing, it is also a good choice to go to some medical device companies or medical software companies. Image processing requires high programming. If the programming is very powerful, of course, there is another choice for employment, and it is not necessary to be limited to the image direction.
Tell me something about the company I know. Incomplete, just what I know or what I am interested in. Actually, it's much more than that.
Search direction
Content-based image or video search is the focus of many search companies. If you want to enter this field, you must have strong programming ability and a good background in image processing and pattern recognition. It is natural to ask for high treatment. At present, the representative companies in this field are Microsoft, Google, Yahoo and Baidu, all of which are famous.
Medical image direction
At present, in the direction of medical devices, several large enterprises are competing, including Siemens, ge, Philips and Kodak, which mainly produce medical devices such as CT and MRI. Because the main function of medical devices is imaging, it will inevitably involve image processing, and people who do image processing have a good chance to enter these companies. They all have R&D centers in China, Siemens in Shanghai and Shenzhen, General Motors and Kodak in Shanghai and Philips in Shenyang. Because the medical market has not been fully developed and the price of a set of medical equipment is very expensive, the treatment in these places is ok and the prospects are good. There are also some such enterprises in China, such as Shenzhen Anke and Mindray.
Computer Vision and Pattern Recognition Direction
I haven't investigated which companies are doing it, but there must be many, such as fingerprint recognition, face recognition and iris recognition. There is also a general direction of license plate recognition. I know a company, Dave Cote Intelligent Transportation, which seems to be doing well. At present, video surveillance is a hot issue, and those who do tracking and identification can find a place in this direction.
Shanghai Fast is located in Zhangjiang High-tech Park, Shanghai, and has done a good job in vision and recognition. I also know that there are two companies in Beijing, Daheng and Lingyun, both of which focus on images.
Video direction
Ordinary universities or research institutes focus on the formulation and revision of standards and technological innovation, while companies focus on the hardware implementation of codec. Generally, these companies are required to be familiar with or proficient in MPEG, H.264 or AVS. If they choose this direction, as long as they do well, there is basically no job. Because this is not the direction I am interested in, I haven't collected company information in this field, but I usually see it on various bbs or recruitment websites.
I know two companies: Nokia and pixelworks.
other
In fact, generally speaking, as long as the basic knowledge of imaging or images is involved, people in image processing are needed. For example, imaging equipment needs to enhance or denoise the original image before outputting the image, compress the image when storing the image, and automatically analyze the image content after imaging, all of which belong to the category of image processing. The following are some companies that are related to images or have clearly indicated that they need talents in image processing when recruiting:
Wei Zhongxin
Motorola Shanghai Research Institute
VIA (pass)
Matsushita Co., Ltd.
Sony
Tsinghua Tongfang
Orion belt
All companies related to images (still or moving images) are an option. For example, digital camera, microscope imaging, ultrasonic imaging, industrial robot control, display, television, remote sensing and so on. Can be used as a job search direction.
Requirements:
1, foreign language. If you enter a foreign company, the importance of a foreign language is self-evident. Generally, the first round of interviews in foreign companies are oral English interviews.
2, programming. In this respect, c++ is particularly important, and many companies test c++ knowledge in written test.
3. Professional level. If you want to find a job related to your major, your research experience and published papers are very important.
4, the width of knowledge. I think it is very helpful to broaden my knowledge besides doing my own research during my graduate studies. Of course, this knowledge refers to image processing, computer vision and pattern recognition. The wider my knowledge, the more choices I have in employment.
Graduates in the direction of image processing have a wide range of employment, and the treatment of fresh graduates should be middle and upper. In fact, it is still a word, ability determines everything. As long as graduate students have not wasted three years, there is no fear of not finding a good job. I wish all the friends who are studying or about to study in graduate school a satisfactory job in the future.
