The history of Xiangyang city
Xiangyang, a prefecture-level city in Hubei Province, is a national historical and cultural city and the main birthplace of Chu culture, Han culture and Three Kingdoms culture. It has a history of more than 2,800 years, and it has been an important economic and military place for generations.

Known as "the first city in China", "Xiangyang made of iron" and "the place where military strategists must fight".

Xiangyang is located in the northwest of Hubei Province, in the hinterland of the middle reaches of the Han River.

Xiangyang is named because it is located in the sun of the ringing water, and the Hanshui River passes through the city, separating Xiangyang and Fancheng from the north and south banks of the Yangtze River.

Both cities are important military and commercial centers in history.

1949 after the merger of the two cities, it is called Xiangfan city; 1983 Xiangyang area merged into prefecture-level Xiangfan city; 20 10 12 Xiangfan city was renamed Xiangyang city.

It has jurisdiction over three districts (Xiangzhou, Xiangcheng and Fancheng), three county-level cities (Zaoyang, Yicheng and Laohekou), three counties (Nanzhang, Baokang and Gucheng) and three development zones (Xiangyang High-tech Industrial Development Zone, Xiangyang Economic and Technological Development Zone and Xiangyang Zhou Yuliang Economic Development Zone), with a total area of 1.97 million square kilometers.

The tourist attractions in Xiangyang are mainly characterized by the cultures of the Three Kingdoms, including Longzhong Scenic Area, Xiangyang City and other famous scenic spots, and there have been stories such as Liu Bei's "three visits to the thatched cottage" and "Longzhong Dui".

Xiangyang is the sub-central city of Hubei Province and the central city of eco-cultural tourism circle in western Hubei.

In 20 13, Xiangyang was selected as one of the first national smart cities.

In 20 14, Xiangyang was shortlisted as a national pilot city of "information benefiting the people".
